Do you name your guns?

I was reading the thread over in pistols about what .45 do you carry, and several of our TFLers had named their guns. (Quite a few Toliken fans here I might add).

Does anybody else have names for their guns?

All my guns are called by their regular designations (the bushmaster, the 870, etc.) Except for one:

1966 Ishipore MkIII .308 named:

Big Ugly :)

Anybody else?

Only have one named. My suppressed AR w/tritum sights, Darkman. Next addition when I win the lotto will be a Gen III NV Scope.

I don't name most of them. But, My family and I do have a code word if they want to know if I'm carrying or not. They'll ask "Did you get your pants?" We call it "Pants" because its purpose is to cover my a$$! ;)

TFL's official "Curmudgeon Member" and damned proud of it!

Only one. S&W 19-4 6" is called Mr. Smith. Not really original, but works. As in "Is Mr. Smith going with us this weekend?"

Some. I call my P-32 "Kate", after Kate Moss, though I'm more satisfied with the looks of my .32! Ms. Moss needs to come back to the table before she blows away...

I've really only _named_ one and that is my Colt MT6530 (AR). I call her "Rosie O'", of course!

Though I do call my 10 1/2" SBH "The Cannon" on occasion.

Lou Gurr
Lee Fever
Wynn Chester
Ann Schutz
Tommy Gunn
Smythe N. Wesson
Fran Chi
Val Mett
Iver Johnson
Ben Elly
Bart Ender...and I think I'll go see him now.

Only a few have names.

25-06 Ackley=Speedy
22 WMR=Zipper
G27=The Sneak (fits in front pocket)
3" 629= Handy (as in hand cannon)
45-70=BamBam

Many others have no names.

I prefer armed combat to unarmed combat. It's easier on the knuckles.

I don't name my guns! They whisper their names to me :p

Honestly I only name the carry guns [though I would never put the name on a carry gun] and the ones that need a name :)

I name the carry ones in part so my friends/family that also carry can confirm if I am armed or not without giving anything away. Also they can tell by which name I give how well armed I am, so the better armed person can take point in a crisis situation.

My P 32 is named Cricket [ala MIB]
My P 11 is Jerry the Mouse

When I get a 1911 coverted to 45 Super it will be named Mjolnir.
And when I get my 45-70 it will be named Glamdring [which acording to Tolkien means "Foe Hammer"]

I haven't name my 12 gauge yet though I may some day.

I have not named my steyr scout and I don't think I will [I don't know why].

None of my other toys have names.

There can be only one!

I only named one of my Guns. Nikkita she is a Oly/Colt Ar15. Oly arms lower with a colt 24 inch free floated barrel. Riding atop this is a Redfield 4x12x40 Tracker scope. Rounding out the arangement is a Harris BiPod.

I got a .58 rifled musket which is a nail driver on the FIRST shot. Unless it's thoroughly cleaned, however, it shoots higher and further to the left with each successive shot. Hence, "Lefty."

In Basic Training my M-16 was Maybellean (sp?), in MP school my M-9 was Nadine.

Brownie points for anyone who can guess the connection.

Gator

Doh, Mabeline and Nadine? Connection? Jeeeze, CHUCK BERRY. :D

I do not name guns but I have a friend that called my 1911A1 Ithica "Masher" which was then changed to "Ma Asher" and then ended up as "Ma". As in, "Is Ma going too?" Then only time I give firearms names is when I miss a traget really bad and then the name is "You piece of S!!!" LOL

I haven't given either of my guns names, but after reading a post somewhere about someone who named his carry gun Dan, my Beretta is sometimes called Dan. At other times when I want to be discreet, I call it Mr. B.

I don't name my guns other than using their model names or numbers.

I learned another thing on this thread! I never even THOUGHT about nicknames to indicate my armed state. What a great idea!
Thanks
Steve

Only two have names: Rossi 12 ga. dbl w/rifle sights: "bear" as my cousin once took it with her on a solo kayak trip to Canada and needed something for bear defense. My Maadi-Griffin 50 bmg "hefty" for obvious reasons. crankshaft

Nah, my Smith & Wessons come pre-named...

Combat Masterpiece...

Combat Magnum...

Regulation Police...

etc. (G!)

I did, however, name my dog Ruger. Does that count? :)
