Do you ever worry about buying used online?

I did it one time. Never again, got burned right off the bat and wont do it it again.Recieved it, took it out several days later and found out it was a jamatic Sar 3,bought as a collectors item. It is and was the only AK i have shot that jammed, repeatedly every 3 to 4 rds. Took another 2-300 to get it to run right, and it left a very bad taste for online auctions.

I just bought 3 magazines for a S&W Model 59 on-line. I got a GREAT deal and again got more than I bargained for! These were not only S&W mags but Stainless Steel magazines and were sent in a like-new military 2 magazine pouch! The Pouch wasn't mentioned as part of the deal and I thought they were Blue mags. For me, the SS ones are a plus!

Deanodog - Your experience on Gunbroker sounds just like mine. I bought what was advertised as a "like new in box, flawless" Colt Python. It was defective, the box was in bad condition and the stocks were totally mismatched. Gunbroker's "Buyers Protection" did nothing for me, the seller took no responsibility and I was stuck with the extra cost and expensive of having Colt fix it and just now bought stocks. The seller had 2 or 3 negative feed backs out of 30. I found out that it is easy to get a whole list of positive feedbacks because you can buy cheap $12 items like my seller did or even have your friends buy and sell to you.
The only protection, though I have not tested it, is a credit card.
While most people in general are honest there are some real crooks on these sites. I see in the feedback of certain sellers of fake Colt Python stocks how happy the buyers are when they pay $115 for a cheap set of made in Tiawain stocks.

I don't really like buying online but have bought several that I couldn't find locally: Smith & Wesson pre-lock 629's and a Ruger Accusport special edition Bisley, among others.

I have gotten a couple of terrific deals and a couple that were so-so. I continue to shop online because I can't find what I want locally, and don't have the time to run all over the state looking in the gun shops and pawn shops for stuff.

I shop the listings on GB very thoroughly, because as others have pointed out, some of the dealers ask asinine prices hoping some fool will buy the first item they look at.
