I don't have my ccp yet, but I did get a galco kingtuk exactly 7 days ago. Two days ago I stopped wearing it at home cause it became painful, I still feel it a little. BTW I was carrying my glock 22. I only have a glock 22 and a ruger MKIII 22/45.

A few reasons I carry at home...

  1. The less a firearm is handled, the less the possibility of a ND.
  2. Sometimes, bad people come to your home to do bad things.
  3. If the gun is on my person, it is not in the hands of kids or grandchildren yet still loaded and ready to go.
  4. My CC method is comfortable.
I would suggest you tweak your CC method or look into a different method of carry altogether.

Yes, only loaded gun in house is on me, that way the grand kids can not find a one that will hurt them(all others and ammo are kept locked up) and when I come in from outside I will not find myself looking down the barrel of my own HD gun.

More so in the past month, people leaving doors unlocked, forgetting to lock doors etc... Alarm on silent mode so I can't hear them opening doors.
Windows open after dark etc..

:DI don't go to the door unarmed if I don't know the people outside. It's easier to just wear it instead of not. Besides, my belt is stretched because of my gun so if I don't wear the gun my pants fall down.:D

I keep loaded guns hidden around the house( I live alone) in a quiet neighbor hood. Don't really feel the need to carry. Besides, I'm usually wearing sweats at home.

Today, I had it on all day. I went out for a haircut and never took it off. Tomorrow, I might not go anywhere, I won't have a gun on.

Maybe we need a pole about wearing while getting your haircut next. Seems like loose hair could fall in your gun and cause a malfunction

I am wondering what some of you are going to do when you have to go into assisted living. :D

I can see it if you are in a really bad neighborhood. If you feel the need then by all means wear it and carry a bowie knife in your teeth.

As another poster stated, I have guns readily available. I do not find wearing a gun particularly comfortable or comforting.

Do you carry at home? No!! Being my wife is neutral on my doing so in public with or without her along. But, she may object to my doing so at home. I see no need to carry in my own home. But, saying that doesn't mean I don't have easy access to a firearm if need be. Over the years I have grown not to like carrying period. But, because of today's Society I have to ignore those most inner thoughts and face reality the very second I leave my secure comfort zone, our castle.--- "Every mans home is his Castle."---Sir Edward Coke (1552-1634);)

If you are an NRA member and receive any of their magazines, I hope you read "The Armed Citizen", a monthly feature that describes the legal use of firearms.

And these happen out "in the country", in "nice neighborhoods", etc.

The majority of the incidents are within the home, and none are announced. Whether you are awake or asleep, day or night, if someone suddenly busts in your door or window, you are at a disadvantage.

If you have to go find your gun you are at a significant disadvantage.

As a fellow member of the Texas CHL Forum says, "Carry 24/7 or guess right".

Sometimes I feel like I'm repeating my previous posts. Oh well...

I live in a nice development, but the trash is a mile away. I carry mine on my person. In the event that someone breaks into my house while I'm home, my gun is a second from my hand. Otherwise, I would have to run upstairs. In general, I have a gun available to me within a maximum of a couple of feet from me at all hours of the day.

To those who question the odds, it's about 1 in 2,000 for a robbery to happen at your home. Don't believe me? Look up one of my posts on the subject from a few months back. Yes, yes - of course it depends on your locale. Like I'd said, we have trash a mile away.

Yes. Clip draw 340PD usually on me, even just doing yard work. We live out in the country and have had several problems with home invasion robberies. I'd like a fighting chance.
