This is working out extremely well. the holster is the 4" Mountain Gun model produced by Kramer for Dillon It drapes only 3.5" below the bottom of the belt and rides high and tight. You can hide under just about anything.
Such a pity, though--somebody done scratched up your nice shootin' iron somethin terrible. Happens I have a Mountain Gun in excellent condition. I might swap with you for just a little boot.
Not every day. But, today I do have my Ruger KGP-141 riding on my hip in a Michaels nylon holster, the kind that has belt loops on both sides of the holster. I put the belt thru the outer loops and this holds the gun nice and snug to my hip.
