Do I NEED a 226?

I often see that caveat 'finest combat handgun' when describing the P226, and wonder about it. If I expand my expectation for versatility, is there a finer pistol?

And does 'combat' just mean heavier and more durable?

I'm not trying to pick nits here- I'm so seriously considering a 226 that I bought the CO2 mockup to see how I like the feel. The air gun (SIG's term) is good, but not as accurate in my hands as my PPQ.
To me, "combat pistol" entails the full range of use, from carrying and drawing the weapon to engaging an evasive target while you yourself may be moving and using cover; it's the real deal. (This is as opposed to a range gun or home-defense gum, for which the requirements are more narrow.) I'm not a big guy, and, for me, the P226 and the Beretta are both a little big/heavy for all that action.

On the other hand, the P229 and CZ PCR would seem to hit that spot as far as metal-frame DA/SA pistols go.

That is what the SEALS use and I don't think they use Berettas like the rest of the service. I would go that route, Team 6 and the others could tell you a thing or two and know their weapons.
