You have to look at it like a motorcycle... sure people will buy them used.. but a lot of times they aren't looking to pay top dollar because the bike is set up for you and your tastes... they are gonna set it up for their tastes.
I think this gets overplayed. When you look at it in detail, accesories can add or detract from value.
It depends on what they do and who installed them. I always see used 1911's with something poorly slapped on. Like a SS extended not matching slide stop on a blue series 70 Colt 1911, etc. Basically, to a knowledgible buyer, it invokes fear that the previous owner fancied himself a gunsmith, but was just a Dremel weilding hack!
Since it appears a mismatch, maybe it functions less than perfect... I'm probably going to offer $100 - $200 under value, in case I have to fix a bunch of stuff inside. I view car, bike and house add ons the same.
Your extra's, if they look good and impove function will be worth the gun + extra based on what the extra value is.
Does that make sense?
If you can show me some documentation showing a name guy put the stuff in, even more value added.
On the other hand, you might get the most value out of bolt on pieces by removing those and selling them piece by piece. This isn't because the pieces don't have huge value with the gun. Seperately, to someone they have high value. The gun has almost the same market appeal it would new. Together, they have less market appeal, because the additions limit the size of your customer base, especially when you want a premium for the combination.
