You see what kind of people we have up here in the North East? MORONS! Big Government, Anti-freedom, MORONS! Where in New York is he from? If he's from the city, forget about it. If he's from upstate somewhere, he may be open to reason.

Sounds like an idiot.

I resent that. I am a New Yorker and certainly NOT a moron. And let me tell you, i've met more liberals and closed minded antigun idiots upstate than i have in the rest of the state.

ds1973, that's funny and I tend to agree. Of course the University of Buffalo is called 'Berkley of the East'. Yep, good ol' UB. Home of the 'Marxist-Leninist Discussion Group' which urges boycotting elections on the grounds that elections subvert the will of the people hahahaha! Good ol'd Buffalo, where the unions and corruption are driving businesses and the enterprising citizens away . As a former and will-be again Texan I say kick away at the stultified heap called New York. Just don't get any on ya!

Books NOT in the library at UB: Red Dragon Rising, Betrayl, The Long March, etc. All books against the creeping leftist and Chicom subversion of America. Books in the library at UB "Communism, Mankind's Greatest Invention" etc.

Say, did you get the SCOPE flyer that is announcing the banquet with Wayne LaPierre?

Hmmm, maybe I should start a topic on that...

Shooting is one of the least violent sports that I can imagine. There is no physical contact between the participants. Basically your opponent is YOURSELF. You can screw with someone on the golf course but when you are shooting in competiton you are as busy as everyone else or not on the firing line.
BTW A guy did shoot himself in the foot at the National Police Pistol matches in Jackson, MS several years ago. That was not violent, it was just screwing up.
I think you should convince this person to give it a try.

I'm with the "offer to take him to the range" thought. Since he's been sort of calm over the last year or so, he may be amenable to it if you go about it right. Mention that you are going (next time you go), and ask if he'd like to come see how "violent" it is.

The worst thing I've ever seen was down at Blackwater during our big IDPA match there in July. A guy got stung by a bee, and he is allergic. Swelled up so big we all thought he was going to pop! Rushed him to the hospital, and he was fine.

Worst thing I've ever done to myself happened at a VERY busy gun show I was working in Hampton, Virginia earlier this year. I checked a HK USP .45 clear and was going to hand it to the person wanting to look at it when I pinched my middle finger just above my palm by dropping the slide closed on it. To say that I bled like a stuck pig would be an understatement. Didn't hurt much, until later. Felt like a total dummy for the rest of the day.
