Discontinued deals?

Saw something on CDNN, can't remember what it was, but it was a 9mm for $239 or $249. Saw some good reviews on Youtube, then later saw that the gun was no longer being imported by the US company, and was a closeout on CDNN.

Are these guns worth trying out? Or are you buying something for a bargain with no customer support?

CDNN is reputable, but they're e wholesaler. CDNN is highly unlikely to provide CS support for the firearm after the sale.

I believe you're looking at the Zenith pistols that they are clearing out. At $250, you're essentially buying a disposable gun, i.e. If it gives out, you don't spend the money on repairs. In other words, you pays your money, you takes your chances.

The fact that they're not being imported to the US makes me think that customer support from the mfg is going to be spotty at best. If you're making your purchasing decision based on that criteria, it may be best to stick with one of the big US brands like S&W or Ruger that have already built solid service reputations.

Kinda' hard to answer that without knowing what gun it is. Some companies manufacture under different names so that parts may be available even if the U.S. "brand" is no longer around.

There will be no customer support from Dicks, either...if there is a problem, it will be between you and Savage.

CDNN is a very reputable Texas business (very unlike another Texas based business I could mention) that distributes firearms and accessories, they stand behind their sales but in many cases warranty work is the responsibility of the manufacturer. CDNN also is a liquidator of discontinued items, failed company inventories and the like, they would not in that case provide other than possibly an exchange for a like item. The Zenith is one of the firearms that was abandoned by the original importer and the stock disposed of by CDNN, I’m sure it is sold with no warranty implied or whatever support may be available if any.

Yes it was the Zenith Products, specifically, the EAA SAR B6P 9MM. Just looked and the full size black model is at $239 and the compact pink and purple models are at $219.

I didn't know that CDNN was in Texas and I'm not sure of the other Texas company you mentioned. So, I Googled online gun dealer in TX. And the first hit on Google was Grabagun.

That SAR is a Sarsilmaz out of Turkey, supposed to be a good manufacturer. EAA is European American Armory, also an importer. I would have some confidence in in the builder, but don’t know about service support.

There are probably 100+ 9mm guns in the $250 to $300 price range worth trying out. I wouldn't be too concerned about missing a $20 off sale on something that is being discontinued.

Different Turkish companies.

European American Armory (EAA) is the U.S. distributor for Sarsilmaz (SAR); Zenith was the U.S. distributor for Girsan, but Zenith [EDIT] dropped the Girsan line and sold their remaining inventory to CDNN.

Girsan still exists but AFAIK currently has no U.S. distribution, and if they get a new distributor, it's impossible to predict whether the new guys will service the Zenith-branded pistols. [See edit below] This is a common issue with foreign gunmakers that have switched distributors.

EAA still exists and AFAIK still provides U.S. service for EAA SAR pistols. They do have a reputation for sketchy customer service, but that's probably a topic for another thread. ;)

[EDIT] The CDNN website says that the Zenith pistols are being sold with a 1-year warranty. Also, Zenith's website is still up, so I'm not sure if I read accurate info about their demise; however, all handguns and shotguns have been removed from their online catalog, and I've been informed that they simply dropped the Girsan product line.

The sar bp6 is a very good gun. I use to have the compact version. For $239 it is worth taking a chance on. It is basicly a clone of a witness pistol. In fact complete top ends could be swapped on the two guns.

From Zenith's news release:
Afton, VA: Zenith Firearms has eliminated three product lines to make way for a heightened and exclusive focus on its signature roller-delayed blowback firearms. This move is the logical result of Zenith’s recent decision to change its business model from one in which it distributes a wide variety of firearm products, to one in which it intensively researches, develops, manufactures, and distributes only those firearms that comprise its signature line. Zenith sold all remaining inventory of its eliminated product lines, which include Tisas, Girsan, and Tedna, to Texas-based firearms wholesale liquidator CDNN Sports.

Zenith is concentrating on licensed domestic production of the MKEK line of MP5-related guns.

Grabagun is reputable. I suspect the negative reference was to a different Texas dealer infamous for jacking up prices outrageously whenever there is a shortage or scare involving firearms or ammunition.

Perhaps due to increases in the price of soil? ;)

So rumors of their demise were greatly exaggerated. :) I stand corrected.
