Disappointment 10x

Probably a grandfather clause allows guns that were already owned;)
What does the pawn shop charge to do a transfer. IME they usually are more prone to makin an easy buck. My local one charkes $20 no tax.
I can order one from Buds on monday and most of the time pick it up thursday.

Doesn't look like it. The MN statute on selling them reads, in its entirety:

624.716 SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIALS PROHIBITED; PENALTY.

Any federally licensed firearms dealer who sells a Saturday night special pistol, or any person who manufactures or assembles a Saturday night special pistol in whole or in part, shall be guilty of a gross misdemeanor.
It does look like you could sell one privately, but if you're a dealer... no.

And the portion of the statute quoted by Tom Servo is their entire definition of a Saturday Night Special... I couldn't find anything in the gun control statutes that suggested either a grandfather clause or some other definition that would allow the sale of such a handgun in MN.

Yes you can sell or buy "sat night specials" in MN but an FFL can't sell one or transfer one. Was a recent big hassle over the Chiappa 1911/22. As an FFL holder they could not sell the used one any more than the new one.

Another goofy MN law is regarding "assault weapons" like AK47's. Need a permit to purchase or a permit to carry UNLESS you buy it from an individual then it is fine. Same with handguns BTW.

Not a lot of guns fit the catagory but those mentioned like Raven etc certainly do. BTW most states with melting point laws are only 800 degrees. We just had to eliminate a few more:mad:

I don't see anywhere that says the alloy frames melt at below 1000 which they usually indicate if they do. Check the other dealers in MN (list on Heritage web site). Guessing the guy you are talking to has his head where it doesn't belong. NONE of those on gunbroker state they will not ship to MN which is usually a very good indication that they can be.

the way i understood it was that if i were to get in in WI and have it transferred i would have to pay Gander Mountain the cost of the gun and the tax and then have to pay the FFL in MN their $20 transfer fee and possibly shipping, but i havent looked into it completely.

It's just like buying anything else out of state except for the FFL. If you buy a thousand dollar handgun from Bud's and have it shipped to your state, Bud's won't charge you tax. And your FFL should just charge you his $20 (or whatever) fee. Usually the amount you save on tax takes care of the shipping. Or better! (Especially if you buy from someplace like Bud's that does a lot of free shipping.)

Bud's doesn't have an actual store in MN, so they don't have to collect sales tax on orders shipped there. Gander Mountain does, and as JohnKSa pointed out above, that means they do have to collect sales tax on MN orders.

So that makes Minnesota a glock free zone? what do their police carry? surely they would not expect them to use those glock Saturday night specials?

i got the used rough rider from the shop and it WAS unfired. Its really nice. As far as ordering from buds goes ill be weary of it on any future purchases. I have a friend that had buds send him the wrong pistol altogether once and another friend that received a gun with the wrong magazine and then a completely different gun then what he ordered. I just find it hard to trust a company that can mess up orders that regularly.
