Digital Chronograph

I've been using a Competition Electronics product called ProChrono Jr for 25 or 30 years now. It has no interface or advanced software at all and looks a fright - grimy and splattered with bullet lube. Something (small screw?) has been rattling around inside for most of its life, but it just keeps on working. I couldn't recommend it more highly. I hate to spend money needlessly.
I don't need the screens, although I usually shoot with leaf canopy overhead. I think most errors occur when muzzle blast knocks the unit a bit sideways. You want to take care to line everything up as perfectly as possible. Any tangent on the bullet path, either horizontal or vertical, will change the readings.

Sevens I find your assessment of the "Chrony" brand of chronographs to be not only absolutely honest but quite refreshing. The only nice feature the Chrony I had was the remote display. I found pen and paper much less expensive than the printer they offer (for what, an additional $100+?). It also almost wouldn't want to function on a sunny day most of the time, sunscreens or not. I was not all that disappointed when I shot it with my 45.

I've never had any trouble getting my Betamaster to work on sunny days, so long as the sun wasn't low in the sky at the time. I'm sure there are better machines these days; I have just gotten used to it and its admirable ability to duck the bullets I've slung over it.

So far, at least ;)

Have been an Oehler user since the 80s with a Chronotach 33. Last year, I acquired a 35p and it is awesome. Triple screens and printer. The best.

I have a CED Millennium 2 i use for rifle and pistol. i like that the Main CPU Unit has really large numbers and it can sit right on the shooting bench with me.
Also, if shooting pistol indoors i use the Infrared Screen Set for low light. (i had to buy this as a extra option) The PC software is nice too. I can not compare it to any other, this is the 1st i have ever had. But so far for a newbie, i have not had any problems with it yet.

Good news I bought the one from the first post. I had a little mix up with my 9mm bullets and this will straighten it out :D Bad news is it has rained for the last couple of days and again today and tomorrow :(

I got the Oehler 35p when it first hit the market 80's and 2014 the wires to the battery broke and I called Oehler they they told me how to fix them or I could send it back. I elected to fix them myself and was easy but I didn't get reading when I put in battery so again I called Oehler and send it back, they replace the board send it back no charge.

I called offered to pay as I used it 30yr years and he told me read the warranty that was on last page of the operating instruction for the 35 P.

Here it is. For twenty years Oehler has offered a very simple warranty, If you aren't satsified,we'll return your money. If it doesn't work, we'll fix it or replace it. While our written warranty for all those years has been limited to three years, we've repaired most unit no charge even though some were 15 or 20yrs old. Our customers are reasonable, if they shoot screen or accidentally smash chronograph, they expect to pay for repairs. If something breaks, wears out or just dies,we fix it free.

It is raining because you bought a chronograph. Had you not bought the chronograph it would not be raining. It's like as a kid you get a brand new bicycle for Christmas and Christmas Day a 100 year snowstorm blizzard happens. It is your fault it snowed.

Seriously, enjoy your new chronograph, may it serve you well for many years to come.
