Different CCW for different environments Pt. 1

I generally carry the biggest (caliber) that I can conceal easily in any given circumstance,

That's my general strategy too. Depending on the season and social circumstance,I "rotate" between three pistols: a SIG model 220 Carry in .45 ACP; a Smith & Wesson model 6906 in 9mm Luger and a Colt Cobra chambered in .38 Special. When naked I keep my dentures in.

I carry 3rd genaration S&W auto's in 10mm,45acp or 9mm for different needs/activies. They are the same except length and caliber. For punching paper it is 1911's two Colt gold cups in 45acp and one Kimber in 9mm.

I'll bite,

95% of the time my G23 in riding strongside in a Bianchi Carry Loc and a NAA 380acp Guardian is in the right front pocket in a Nemisis holster.
My Sunday ( church gun) is a Sig P232 in a K&D Thunderbird holster stoked with BB Gold Dots, and the same NAA Guardian is in the front pocket.
I have several others guns I could CC but I feel it is important to comit to 1-2 guns and train your muscle memory for them.

Yeah, different environments definitely call for different adaptations. My carry solutions are pretty simple because I don't spend much time wandering around.

At Home ~ Loaded guns are available quickly no matter where I am, so I don't feel the need to carry at home. I'll clip on my SP-101 when working in the yard or garage.

At work ~ No CCW at work, so my SP-101 stays in the car.

Quick errands ~ SP-101 stays in the car. If something about a situation feels dangerous, I won't pack the gun; I'll just avoid the situation. When it's unavoidable, I'll clip on the gun.

At the gym ~ SP-101 stays in the car as opposed to being unsecured in my gym bag. There's a back door, and I'll use it.

Out for dinner, shopping, etc. ~ SP-101 is clipped onto my belt.

Walking the dog ~ SP-101 in spring through fall; GP-100 OWB during the winter. I like carrying the GP, so I do it whenever I'm wearing a long coat.

A J-frame 38special seems to fit pretty well in every situation. I wouldnt take it on a hike in Alaska but other than that its fine for me. I try to keep things simple so I can spend more time enjoying life and less time pondering it.

I'm more a "weather" guy than a situation guy ... I carry my PM-9 in a pocket almost all summer (which here in Texas is still going on, gonna be 80 today!!). When it's cooler, I holster carry my Kimber Ultra Carry II, strong side when walking, cross-draw if I'm doing a lot of driving. Since I got rid of my much-scorned PT-25 "dog-walking" gun, I generally carry a Taurus 617 in a strong-side holster ... we don't have bear to worry about around here, but the occasional randy whitetail buck can cause problems -- and a fat coyote crossed our path two days ago ...

My usual concealed carry is my 4" 1911. In the woods I carry a revolver in most cases.....a 4" stainless Ruger Redhawk in .41mag or my 3" stainless Ruger GP-100.
