Difference in kick?

recoil

"Free" recoil is a function of the weight and velocity of three things only: the gun, the powder charge (speed of the gases of combustion) and the bullet.
"Felt" recoil is a function of many more variables - stock design, as mentioned, is one. The anatomy of the shooter is another. Experience with firearms in general is a third. Experience with heavy recoiling firearms is also a factor (you get used to recoil). Shooting position is a factor.

What kinda 7mags are you guys shootin?? My remington 700 7mag with sinthetic stock has very little recoil. Then on the other hand my winchester in 308 kicks like a mule. Its a semi auto but dang I dont even like to shoot it that much. I love shootin my 7mag. Hell my girlfreind shoots a 700 in 7mag with a wood stock and you can hardly tell a differance in recoil between the two. Hers has a lil more pop than mine though.

On my last outting I went through 60 to 70 rnds of 154gr in my 7mm Mag to shoot 200 to 600 yrd and I have found the with my rifle setup I feel no more kick than a 410 shotgun or alittle more than a 5.56 and less than a .243. I would never trade off this to shoot something different but as my check book would have it I also have it in 30-06, .308..... in the same setup 2 different mfg's and I shoot off the bench I have not taken her to the field as I broke my ankle just before deer season so I was marooned to the bench......
