Best day YET!!!!!
yeah-- I --heard-- of that law. He can do that maybe legally. But, come on there is a problem with him. I know this. I wasn't born yesterday.
How do I know? well here we go. I am really not liking this gunsmith right?
I go to my local conservation club today!. Little do I know he is a member.
I go to inquire about joining the club. I ask if I can watch the guy's shoot clays. Of course, immediately I am invited and with smiling open arms. I am liking this feeling.
A bunch of locals having fun and having a beer or two. I tell them that a gunsmith said it was fine to shoot and he cleaned it.
So, guy takes gun makes sure I have my safety gear on ear plugs, ect... he tries to shoot gun shakes his says" oh no there is something very wrong with your gun"
Goes back about 4 other guys start looking at it. They all start taking it down. This went on several times, with puzzled looks. They said who did this? When the components are taken down they all look at each other and say no way this guy cleaned your gun!!!! Plus, the only thing that was clean was my barrel. I laughed and said yeh, I'm the one who cleaned it.
Guy's face turns beet red, he says wait I'll be right back.! He said just so you know I personally put a note on your guy's face and put" you should be ashamed of yourself for charging someone money to not fix a gun or clean it !" His picture is on their board. I guess it's a can of worms I just opened, but I have 5 guys backing me up.
quote:There are a lot of hack gunsmiths around, and a lot of other who aren't competent outside of their niche. What you're running into is a common problem end quote: I say:
(you got that right!) my mom always said don't trust anyone with your gun!
I guess I am different, when they lay my body down to rest I don't want anyone cursing me saying how I was a bad person or a crook who rips ppl off.
I know they exist, I just won't be one.
So, it all turns out they got the gun cleaned ( I felt terrible) as they had brass wire brushes cleaning, used some expensive cleaners on it , lots of spraying on everything. I'm so red face, they all said no "we love this stuff and we wanted to help you."
and they even noticed a screw missing and replaced it with a new one. I thought that was really awesome.
And the guy" insisted" I shoot it. He helped spot me and everything. It was great I almost hit the clay the shot went right over just missed. I think one shot I blinked. He said that's good honey" but you got to keep your eyes open" red face
I left and thanked everyone. What a great experience!!!!. Makes up for all the shi* on the foot. I smiled all the way home I stopped on the way and got some more shells for practice. It was also around 80 degrees. I fished for salmon in the morning and shot my mom's gun with a bunch of nice fellows.
No, I won't be putting the relic away on a wall, that's silly talk..... I 'm a girl but hehehehehe...... that isn't what my mom would of ever wanted for her gun or for it to go to a stranger .
I think actually when I was shooting it I could "feel" her. You know it "WAS ALIVE"
And personally, I had heard about half of the guys "other" shotguns shooting constantly in the background.
I think mostly alot of automatic 12 gauges.
They had all finished to watch my mom's shotgun be shot.
When my mom's shot gun went off for the first time you couldn't hear a pin drop. The sound of it rang out just like I remember. One of the guy's said boy wasn't that beautiful!
Everyone really loved her gun. I wanted to cry. You know it felt right.
An older man in his 80's said you know don't ever sell that gun it is worth alot of money and hang on to it. "I've got 4 of them and I've had them for over 53 yrs.
Some younger guy was listening in, he said "DID you say you wanted to sell it?"
Another guy yelled at him"NO you idiot, it's her mom's gun, God! You're stupid" shutUP! Bah...... so funny.
So it finally all ended real "good" by a bunch of good ol' boys. How nice
