Defensive shotgun - standard tube vs. extended tube

If you're serious about an extension I suggest you contact Remington parts and discuss their extension plus the 870P magazine spring. My 870 Express Tactical is one of the newer modela so it came with a single 6 round magazine tube. When I called parts to ask about an additional spring the parts tech told me that they use the 870P spring and it is rated for 3 years continuous load duty.....obviously I ordered one of those as an extra and the price is just under $4. That spring is 18 1/4" long.

I put a Scatterguns Technology extension on my 20 gauge home defense shotgun; neither my wife nor I have any difficulties handling the shotgun with it vs. without it. Not only does it give you two more shots, but it also gives you a stronger spring to help reliability in feeding shells.

That being said, do you know someone with a shotgun so equipped to try out?

Regardless of the extra ammo capacity, if you are significantly more comfortable with the shorter mag tube, stick with it. If you want a stronger spring, you should be able to get one by itself without the mag extension.
