Deep concealment the NAA is easier to hide and has 3 more rounds than the 9MM heavier derringer.

Neither. Derringers are last ditch. NAA mini revolvers are last ditch. They are meant for carrying when you are in a pair of exercise shorts and a T-shirt.
If you're wearing pants, carry Kel Tec P32/P3AT or Ruger LCP or LC9. I would suggest that you compare weights and dimensions before investing in a derringer.

I'll play. Just for fun I choose the NAA 22mag. I actually do carry a Pug or Black Widow at times. I usually carry one or the other as a bug. I do sometimes carry one as a primary in low risk situations such as going to the gym or doctors office.

The newer personal defense loads from Hornady and Speer show similar penetration in gel to .380s.
With that in mind, 5 rounds from a nearly infallible platform such as a single action revolver compared to a 6 round .380 auto.......well there is some real appeal there for many folks including myself.

IF I am going to carry a derringer I would want the lightest and smallest one possible. The short barrel and lack of grip does the 9mm no favors either. So the mini mag with the extra rounds would be the way to go. It would likely confuse and injure an attacker enough for you to make a getaway.
But why not just carry a snub .357?
It would be a heck of a lot more fun. Although not as cheap as the mini.

The NAAs rock for being small. The 9mm derringer - might as well carry a J.
Both are kind of emergency only weapons, but I had a 9mm Bond derringer and sold it; my current dogwalking gun is an NAA Pug ... I found the derringer to be far too heavy, too hard to cock, impossible to grip firmly enough to be fired accurately and way too slow to reload ... the Pug solves all but the last, and still, I have five rounds of 45gr Hornady Critical Defense instead of two rounds of 9mm ... I wouldn't try to defend myself with a derringer unless it was all that was available and I was desperate ...

NAA .22 Mag. The two companies who make quality derringers are NAA and Bond. They are both very well made weapons. To echo bikerbills statement, they are heavy, ridiculously hard to cock(it takes me both hands), and have tiny grips. I can actually shoot my .357 NAA pretty well but the above problems make it practically unusable for SD.

Given the choice between screwing the barrel of it into someone's ear @ point blank range( or more correctly trying to do that) or using a knife, I'd take the knife 7 days a week over the derringer.

I guess it depends how large one's hands are and what kind of dexterity they have in their hands. There's no way in hell that I can pump rounds from a NAA single action mini revolver in the same time as I can a LCP, P3AT, or P32. That's not even comparing the power difference between the rounds. Finally, it's 5 rounds versus 6+1 rounds. BTW, I carry a NAA in the office and a P32 outside of the office/home. I only carry a NAA when there is absolutely no other option.
Oh, and this is the other part - from those kind of short barrels (1 1/8, 1 7/8), a 25ACP performs as well.
