Dear TFL

Similar incident with me, Jeffer. Standing long guns covering the front of the upright piano, handguns covering the dining table, sweet smell of Hoppe's permeating. (Hi-cap .40 on my belt, loaded shotgun nearby) I live out in the sticks. Sheriff chases a BG up my driveway, and blocks his car right at my gate. The idiot claimed that he lived here, and was married to my sister, so the Sheriff comes knocking on my door to verify the claim. I opened the door and kept my hands high on the door and doorframe. After 5 or 6 words, he finally looked down, and saw the pistol on my belt, stuttered a word or two, and continued with his investigation. It wasn't until he finally looked past me, and saw the arsenal that his mouth finally fell open, and he took a step back. He never said a word about the firearms, and left the scene shortly... leaving the guy in my driveway!!! I didn't think it was too cool to chase the guy up here, and then leave, but he probably figured I could handle him. :)

Lavan, do you ever go to those awful prisons they call "gun shops?" It just breaks my heart every time I walk into one....all those poor, pent up firearms just begging to be taken home and let loose.
I can hear them talk to me. A Sako .270 once whispered to me, "I lie awake at night after you peer down my sights." A Winchester Trapper once told me, "You'll love my reaction when you work my lever action." Talk about a come on!

Fast guns, fast cars, and faster women forever regards, Richard ;)

Hi. My name's Dennis. I'm a gun owner.

I haven't been shooting in twenty-three days.

I know I’m not doing my best as a gun owner, but I just can’t take time off
from my work without getting in trouble. I try to make up for ignoring my
guns by getting on the internet and talking with others on The Firing Line,
but sometimes, sometimes, well, sometimes it just isn’t enough.

I get out my gun and clean it, even though I haven’t used it.
I oil it and make sure it still works like it’s supposed to - just in case I ever
need it for real.

Then I’ll do it with my other handguns, my rifles, and sometimes even my
shotguns. The all look so pretty when they’re cleaned and lubricated.

I try to get them all put away in their little places before my wife comes
home, but it does little good. She can smell the Hoppe’s. She can see the
wistful look in my eye and hear the sigh in my voice.

Usually she just shakes her head slowly and says something comforting like,
“For Heaven’s sake! Why don’t you just take a day off and go shooting?
You *own* the company, you know!”

She’s right of course. And I’ll have to do it soon or I’ll just burst.

It’s hard to take a day off, but it does feel good to do it.
I guess all a guy can do is to give it his best shot!

Last week I had some free time and went to one of "those places" where you can look at all of them behind the glass. It's amazing that there can be so many different shapes, sizes and colors and all of them had really nice frames. I didn't tell my wife what I was doing though, she'd probably be pretty P.O'd.

Most of the people there were picking out their favorites and touching them in very interesting ways. Some folks were paying money and taking them into a back room where they... uh... well... let's just say there was a lot of "banging" going on.

I heard one fella' say that he would have taken one of them home, but it "couldn't take the high capacity ones." Poor guy. He just bought some lube and went home.

I heard people talking about things that I still don't understand. Stuff like fully supported chambers, heavy loads, re-boring, barrel twist(?) and butt-stocks. One guy was even asking about a sling for his "muzzle loader" (yikes!) I don't think I want to know what he was into.

(Where is Dr. Rob, he'd be great at this.)

Spot-on, Dave! Let's give ole Dr. Rob a call!

(SFX: the sound of a Savage bolt action being racked before the glass-rod-breaking snap of the sear is realeased over a snap cap.)

Yo, Robbbbb!

There I wuz, cleaning pistols. I'd done the Redhawk and laid it out with the snubbies and the NAA .22 derringer...The wife came in and sez, "My God! That gat had gittens!"*

There's just no such thing as too many in the harem!

Over the weekend I took out an Italian one. It was ribbed for special pleasure.

I shot my wad(s) several times through its hot orifice. It jumped wildly but I held it steady until I was through.

Then I rammed my rod in one last time and turned my back on it.

Treat em rough.

This place is starting to sound like the other "Forums."

That's right.

Just the other day I saw scrawled on a gunshop bathroom wall:

For a good time call Bare Etta

&

I'm smitten with Wesson

&

AMT is a hard baller

...........honest I did.

lol i just got an e-mail to read this thread.. lol you guys don't need me you need..THERAPY.

Even so as my fingers trace the delicate and gracile filagreed lines of my "sweet sixteen" I often wonder why words like "knurl" sound so... base. As my fingers dance over her cheek pad and butt i am fascinated by the details of her finish.. those little freckles and imperfections that make her unique. I place my hand firmly around her, raising her to me my fingertip sliding past her guard to check her "length of pull" I am quickly assured that she was made just for me.. her fit is precise... I handle her gently her action slick and smooth but I know when the heat is up and my throat is dry and hands sweaty we can work with blinding speed and her action is rough enough that i must brace myself and lean into her. But i trust her.. implicitly. She will be with me when i go out into the long dark of night... (and folks she's just a shotgun.. don't ask me how i talk about my lady friends)

I purposely left out:

"beavertail fore-end"
"bedding your barrel"
"overgripping"
and "dry firing"

and any number of other innuendos

safe shooting guys and girls,

(ps do NOT use a "gun rubber on a rifle with a muzzle brake)
