Dear Abby

Be sure to read Dear Abby today where she states that she is "anti-gun from the bottom of (her) heart."

I wonder how she would feel if she had a reversal of fortune and had to move to a rough neighborhood without being able to afford the level of security she now enjoys.

Funny how the shoes never fit on the other feet.

I am not a fan or reader of the ol’ bat myself, but the few times that I have looked over her garbage she is usually apologizing or backing down from some stupid statement or stance that she has made. I’m surprised she hasn’t backed down from the gun issue yet. I guess the “heat” hasn’t been turned up hot enough yet. He he.

Hey, everyone's entitled to their opinion. If she doesn't like guns, that's up to her- At least she admits it. We can't even try to change some peoples' likes and dislikes.

The thing that scares me is when lawmakers tell everyone that they're for the law-abiding gun owner and then pass garbage, anti-gun legislation. These are the people that we should be keeping an eye on and voting out of office.

Dear Abby took it the neck some years ago. She had a young wife of a Peace Officer write to her because her husband was putting his sidearm in a kitchen drawer when he came home from work.

Abby's advice was for the young wife to remove the ammunition from the weapon after her husband had left the kitchen and put the ammo into a safe place in another room.

If I remember correctly, the FOP, LEAA, CLEAT, NSA, IACP, IALEFI and several others lined up and let Abigail have both barrels. :D

Abby and her sister Ann are blue-bloods through and through. I'm willing to bet these women have never worried 10 seconds about money in thier lives, or even done thier own shopping for that matter.

What's really amazing is that people so disconnected from the day to day reality of life are taken seriously by so many. She's only experienced privelege and wealth and her opinion reflects that. I don't consider her advice on anything other than wedding etiquette to be anything but nonsense.

Now that's real good advice
quote:
Originally posted by LawDog: ... Tell somebody who knows nothing about guns to unload a weapon OR even if the wife was gun-knowledgable, can you imagine how the young wife would feel if the following day her husband encountered a knife-weilding lunatic, went to fire his gun & nothing happened and the wife ended up being a widow are having to care for a husband who was disabled as a result of the attack?

Aren't both Abby and her sister divorced? I guess that really qualifies them to give marital advice, doesn't it. That tickles me.
Of course if I were to mention that to her, she'd give me her standard line and tell me to seek professional help.

FUD,

Don't forget these folks learned everything they needed to know about guns from TV.

Lifetime Channel, I think.

I saw that article this morning. I don't usually read it but often my wife comments on some tidbit. If I remember correctly she was responding to corrections someone sent in. She misspelled the name of the U.S.S. Gato, calling it the "Cato" and said something about a 20mm submachine gun. (And I thought you guys with .50cal handguns were overdoing it!)
I think I will go back and find out what the original statement said.
The few times I have read her article it seems that a quarter to a third of her space was taken up with corrections.

Not that it matters, but you are wrong on both counts. (Read their respective
auto-biographies.)
It's a free country, and people who pays their money deserves what they gets. Ann and Abby are two senile has-beens, but people who read them deserve exactly what they get.
That's _not_ the point. The point is, on the question of rights given to us by God, the opinions of mob is of no more value than the
barking of feral elephants.

They had a profile on Biography on the old bat a while ago. She came on like she was the Queen Mother.
BTW. I thought her sister died a few years ago.
I bookmarked her page though. I plan on taking her on whenever I can.

LawCat,

I was under the impression they came from "old money" and were part of High Society from birth. If I'm incorrect, please educate me. I'm not going to waste 10 cents on their autobiographies, though.

Abby & her twin sister are alive & well and continue to be this one of this country's greatest source of MIS-information.

They are just a couple of Leftists from the Entertainment industry purporting to give advice to the "commonfolk" out there.

These are the last people you should ask ANYTHING.

Disclaimer: I'm not a gunowner but, I play one on TV. ;)

Her sistwerp Ann Landers is a columnist for the lesser known SOUTH LAKE PRESS, in my hometown of Clermont, Florida. This is the same woman who refused to publish my letter I wrote in High School because it offended her.

I took my sister to look at Christmas lights one year. We drove into one of the few "Rich Subdivisions" in Clermont at that time, (coincidentally Clermont is nothing but a hideout for carpetbagging yankees who don't mind commuting to Orlando with subdivisions as far as the eye can see) Margaree Gardens. Shortly after we pulled out, we were pulled of by the police. It seems several "prominent residents" thought we were casing the joint. Apparently 2 rednecks in a 1973 Dodge pickup is crminal? I wrote her a letter proclaiming my dismay about such insecure people who choose to live behind gates, and put up Christmas lights, then call the Police on those who come to see them.

No old money or High Society there. The twins were born into a lower-middle class Iowa family, in some small town or other.
They used to be witty when young, now they just embarass themselves daily, in public.

Yea yea this is the same Dear Abby that says that everyone and everything on the internet is bad. Tell that to my former job that I had from my home with Microsoft Network. Oh, did I mention that I met my future wife while on that job? Let's not forget that My second income comes from my online business. Dear Abby can SUCK MY SPENT BRASS!
