Darn That Guy Next to Me at the Range

Yesterday I toted all my iron to the local range and killed some paper. Guy next to me let me shoot his Ruger SA 45 long colt. DARN HIM! Now I want a 45 revolver.

280gr round nose lead at around 900 fps. Incredibly controllable through that 6 1/2 inch cowboy gun. Six holes in the paper all touching each other at 15 yards.

I'm doomed.

Any of you guys see me at the range DO NOT let me shoot your guns. I can't afford it. I can only eat so much Ramen and PBJ sandwiches...

...:D

Know what you mean. thanks to a ruger sa. 357 6.5" barrel I'm down to just pbj, no ramen. well worth it.

I hear ya. I can't even go to gun stores anymore.

"Just looking" turns into "gun on layaway" in a matter of seconds.

:D

I've been lusting after a Bisley for 2 years, but haven't gotten around to getting one and apparently, it would be very difficult to find much ammo even if I bought the gun.

I've read a few forums about problems with accuracy with some of the early Bisley .45 LCs, not sure if that is a common issue. But the .44 Mag seemed to be almost universally praised. I WILL have one at some point.

I offered to let a fellow club member shoot a S&W model 18 one day. He said "no thanks, if I do I will want one and the wife will kill me." I had a 27 in my gun bag but didn't even mention it.

Before all ya had to do was keep driving past the LGS.
And keep your eyes in your own lane at the range...

Now you can browse a 100 different websites from your chair, on your phone.
Sick how they prey on my weakness like that.

I will say that my Star 9 Model B got a few "been thinking about those, how does it shoot?" Comments yesterday at the range.

Many years ago a guy at the range let me shoot his HK P7M8. I left the range, and went to the gun shop attached to it, and saw they had a mint, used one in the case. I bought it on the spot.

Thanks buddy. :D

I wish I had your problems! My problem is that I want to try before I buy and I never can. I was looking for my first revolver in 357/.38Spl recently and couldn't try anything other than Model 686. Finally after taking some long trips I found Model 66 and a few Rugers that I could try. Now I want a .22 caliber and again then only two I can try is Model 617 and Ruger SP 101... (Although, I think one of the local ranges has a some model of Taurus, but I don't think I want to gamble with it). I wish I could find a fellow with bunch of revolvers I could try on the range. But everyone around me uses semi-auto.

Don't you just hate it when another shooter gets friendly and lets you shoot his gun? It sure drains the bank account.

^^^time for new friends^^^

Tell me about it! All my friends are crazy Russians with military training, who're buying guns based on the assumption that tomorrow they may be attacked by a squad of zombies. And they have to be ready if war brakes. Revolver is not exactly the best tool in this scenario. I think I am the only one in the group how actually like shooting for the sole purpose of hitting the center of the target!

Tell them to watch Walking Dead!
Main character carries a 6 inch SW 686!

Wait no don't because there will be a run on 686's and prices will go even higher
Lol

Now we can rest assured those crazy Russian friends of mine will go after Pythons, which are outrageously overpriced anyway. At least 686's are safe now!

Haha..need to see if there is a Zombie thread on here....
I think the ideal zombie gun for your Russian Comrades is a 50 Desert Eagle.
Let them chase that stick and leave some snakes for us Horsemen ;)

Sgt. Lumpy, and this is a problem how?

Because it pre-empts my "need" to obtain a Model 28, 29, 25, 18, all the above in several bbl lengths and finishes, etc.

Next Wed is Senior day at Fry's (Krogers). I'll buy a few cases of Ramen.
