Darn Mossberg!

dw

Sometimes when a mossy gets dirty it will exhibit chambering problems.
Hard to explain, but basically the elevator doesn't go all the way up, so the shell jams up on the chamber. At least this is what has happened with my 20 ga in the past.

dw,

My 500 is chambered for 2 3/4" shells only. I guess this is like the "is it plugged in?" question. No insult meant.:)

gizmo,

wasnt your bro in law worried that the shotgun could be a potential murder weapon, tossed into a pond? just a thought.

Only had two shotguns fail in my lifetime and one of those was a Mossy. Other was an Ithaca I bought for $100 after being told by the guy that it wasn't feeding properly. Go figure. Screw Mossberg... but that's my own opinion. Frankly, the other Mossy was from a Pawn Shop and might have been a Lemon too. Replaced shell stop: problem solved.
