Yep.... so far, the "blem" DW's I've seen have not looked bad at all. And I've been told by DW dealers that the frontstrap checkering on the CBOB is the most common blemish.
OK gotta ask. What kind of price difference are you getting? If you don't want to answer I understand...but I am about $200 short of getting a new 1911. I really want to get a CBOB.
They are not "scratch & dent" guns? as you have found out their a slight blem. The "checkering overrun on the top of the front strap." is not a blem Thay all came thay way mine is a 2007 and had it as has every other one I have looked at. It is result of the machine I have not looked at a 2009 to see if was corrected or not. DW doesn't think it a big deal. Neither do I The pistol is worth way more that I paid for it. It is accurate tight and a joy to shoot. Their now MIN in a D.W. Blems has a letter in serial number at end upside down if I remember correct.
I would buy another in a min blem or not After owning mine My Colts are endanger of a herd thinning
mines an 09, sold as a blemished/ "scratch & dent", but not marked on the serial # by a Y, or upside down Y. last i heard they stopped marking them for 09.
... I was told by a distributor that the checkering overrun is considered a blemish. Since he is pricing them that way, I'd tend to take him at his word.
My 2009 definitely does NOT have the overrun. Don't know how many had it in 2007 and 2008.
Yes, different manufacturers DO sell "blemished" guns. Mossberg does it also. You can get some beautifull guns for way cheaper if you can find a deal like this. I sell alot of the Mossbergs for up to $200 under retail. They are like the DW's, most you have to look to see the blemishes.
The suggested retail of the Dan Wesson CBOB is $1224.00 according to their website. I got my blemished CBOB in my hands for just under $1000. You could say I saved over $200, more like over $300 with taxes, shipping and transfer fee.

a CBOB that recently sold in my local gun shop went for $999.95--brand new, unblemished. taxes added $60. it also came with 3 months free range time.
paying this same amount for one that's blemished (even microscopically so) certainly isn't a great bargain (not in my neck of the woods at least), especially without free range time valued at $100.
however, if it's all you could find (as DW's can be rare), and you really wanted one, i guess you have to do what you have to do.
I get it that a lot of scratch & dents are just exterior blemishes, but I don't want to take the risk of something internal. I don't care if it save $100 bucks.
