All my life I was dissed. Then I turned 45. Women fell at my feet. Strong men trembled at my appearence (bears too!)
And then I turned 46..............

As an aside for eveyone's info - .38 Super, NOT same case as .38 special, nor .380 Auto. .38ACP and .380 Auto are two different cases. The .38 ACP and .38 Super use the same case. In terms of length, .38 ACP/Super case length is to a 9mm as is the .357 Mag to a .38 special. Not literally, but you know where I'm coming from.

...oh. And it's not for sale because it's his dad's gun. And he's never shot it. And he's only shot to 40 yards because that's as far as his airsoft gun shoots. Call him for more info once he gets out of soccer practice, but before dinner so his dad doesn't get mad.

To add to this, though the 38 ACP and 38 Super use an identical case, they are not interchangeable. The Super is loaded to higher pressures and is NOT safe to shoot in older pistols chambered for 38 ACP. The 38 Super is a fairly good round, a bit like a +P 9mm Luger, but just never caught on.

So what I get from this post is I can shoot a 38 cal super in my 1911 45 acp and kill bears at a distance of 40 yards if they are in my back yard. There was some thing about Drity Harry but I don't know him and I only hunt with friends I meet on the inter net. Is that about right. I learn so much here.

Um...er...sorry, here's another fail. In this case, words fail me. I'll settle for a quote from the great Bugs Bunny: "Whatta maroon!"

After reading some of RobertSB701's other posts (RobertSB701 is the originator of this thread), I sent him an email suggesting that he provide the link mentioned in post #1 (I could not find it). It would explain a lot and dispel the idea that RobertSB701 holds the opinion expressed (without quotes, unfortunately) in post #1.

Here is the link.

The quoted, ridiculous answer is the fifth one down. It is not the only astonishingly ignorant answer, either.

Unfortunately, the question asked on answers.yahoo.com is two years old, so posting correct information there is probably too late.

Don't chuckle. Help out.

The question asked on answers.yahoo.com appears to be sincere. Some of the answers were hilariously uninformed.

If you were at a gun range and you saw someone who was obviously a novice making a sincere but ineffective try at accuracy and safety, would you chuckle to yourself or offer your best help? Why do less on the internet?

It might be a good service to uninformed (but sincere) questioners on such "non-gun" sites if some of the more knowledgeable members here steered such people into correct information and onto correct forums.

Sure, ignorance is good for a laugh, but it would be better for gun ownership, Second Amendment Rights and the political climate if, whenever we see a sincere interest in guns on a non-gun web site, we responded with kindness and useful information.

Heck I hand load, the hollow points I load for practice double as my ash trays. After I use them for a couple of weeks I then load them. If I miss then the stuff that came out of the hollow cavity will choke the bad guy to death.:p

I think many of us do exactly that at the range, as well as on this board. However, I'm not sure we should go out on a mission to correct the misinformed on other message boards.

We should do what we can, when we can.

Fellas Fellas

The .45 is deadly I was turkey hunting this morning and yelled 45 about 100 times instead of gobbling. I had to go get the trailer to haul all the gobblers I found laying in the woods on my way out.

Sadly the game warden got me because it killed all the birds not just the toms. Oh well thanksgiving is looking great this year:)

Thanks Lost Sheep, I didn't realize there was any confusion w/ my original post. Reading it over I can see where there could be uncertainty about the paragraph I posted. I hope everyone got as much fun out of reading it as I did.:D
