Dad shoots laptop as punishment

He was looking for the attention that he ultimately got via YouTube. I believe that such attention was more the aim than disciplining a child, otherwise we would not know about it; "punish in private, praise in public". I can see him sitting in front of his computer, enjoying his scripted work.

Don't buy into everything you see on the Internet, which also happens to be the source of most gun legends. But, such buy-in will not end here, I'm sure.

I agree. This guy responded to his daughter's immaturity with some moronic immaturity of his own. His message to her is if you don't like something then tear something up.

Disclaimer: I'm not going to say that I haven't done something equally as stupid during my lifetime, but I didn't broadcast it to the world.

That pretty much nails it down, in my opinion. Teenagers will always complain about how their parents misuse them; get over it or don't have children.

It's the exhibitionism that bothers me the most. Discipline your kids as you see fit, but don't turn it into a public spectacle.

You guys making all these claims about his intentions should read what he and his daughter have had to say since the video went viral.
That way you don't have to just make stuff up that fits your notions.

I'm on his side. I think it's cool the way he did it. Yeah, yeah so that makes me an idiot, big freakin deal.:p

Peet; I'm not concerned about how he feels now, and yes, I made assumptions about his intentions...as we all assumed. Some assume he means as he said, some of us assume he's full of it and had other motives. That is, unless some of us are mind readers.....I'm not, so I assumed.

Taking the bait from many posters makes us mice in a maze, which may not be bad (runnin around with lost people may be fun sometimes) as long as you at least know you're a mouse in a maze....

Not really a gun issue anymore but parenting. Not our issue. Maybe if he was Australian, he could boomerang the laptop and post it on TheBoomerangLine.

So closed. We said it all.

Glenn
