CZ P-09 frame cracking

I have a p09 that is cracked. I shot around 2000 through it in 4 hrs and while cleaning i noticed the crack. So did it happen on rd 50 or rd 2000 i don't know but talked to cz usa today and they are paying to send it in to be looked at.

I looked everywhere and couldn't find a cracked p09. The crack is in the grip on right side 1 inch under slide. Its 2 inches long u need to twist the gun to see it. It runs front to back

working on trying to get pic to you guys. My phone seems to be taking to large of pics and wont download. I will fix it

It will be interesting to see the picture, if possible.
It's easy to mistake a mold or seam mark for a crack on synthetic frames.
Or not, depending.
Didja' know synthetic parts can be welded, (melted back together maybe)?
I didn't until a friend showed me.
He did that for a living at one time.
Very cool.

I've beat the living hell out of my P-07 without issue. Sorry to hear your results were less positive. Keep us posted. I'm interested to hear what CZ has to say about it after they've looked it over.

I am curious what ammo the OP was shooting. This shouldn't happen regardless, but I'm still interested to know.

Hopefully CZ takes care of you EOD. 2k rounds in 4 hours is pretty stout. When I go to the range it takes me a little under an hour to shoot 200 rounds and I'm not dawdling too much. You would be firing a round just about every 7 seconds for 4 hours straight... Roughly. That's doing it.

None the less, the pistol should take it. I have seen a picture of a P07 blown up, but that has been determiner to be a double charge. Never heard of ita frame cracking issue. Again, hoping CZ takes care of you. They have a fairly good rep, and I have a personal stake, so I hope thy live up to it.

My FiL's CZ09 cracked. The spot where they put in the steel inserts for the rails is a weak spot. They remove polymer there to fit the inserts in. He sent it back. They returned it and said that everything was in spec and he must have done something wrong.

Don't know yet, its in route. 5whiskey I load around 30 to 50 mags the night before I go out to the desert. Around 5 am I start shooting. I have been working on my point shooting techniques from Col. Rex Applegate. Usually I run my g17 because I have a lot more mags for it. This time I just took the CZ out and thank god I did. Who know how long this crack has been there. First time I have ever seen it. I'm out there for like 3 hours and head back to the house about 830 am. Loading on the range during range time I have found it takes away from training. The key is muscle memory. Sometimes I need to load more out at the range. I use a uplula reloader its fast. A friend of my just got one of his reloaders patented and its way faster.

You have more mags than I do lol. I could probably do closer to 300 rounds an hour, but I change out targets, do some slow fire at distance etc. Keep us updated on whether CZ USA takes care of you.

"Did they repair it, replace the damaged frame, or just say it was not a concern?"

It's a large obvious crack, so it's definitely a concern. They told him that everything in the gun (other than the crack) was to factory spec and that he must have done something wrong to break it.

I believe that they were correct and that his first batch of handloads was too hot for the pistol.

I might as well tell the whole story:

My FiL liked the pistol so much that I gave it to him as a Christmas gift. He had plenty of 40 caliber brass, so he bought some dies and loaded some up. He is a careful guy and researched several websites before he loaded up a few trial batches. He made some mild, medium, and spicy loads.

He shot a bunch of mild and medium loads with no problems. Then he shot a few of the hotter ones and noticed that the cases were bulging a bit. If either one of us had been thinking AT ALL just then, that would have been the end of it. But no, he tried a few more rounds and noticed that his frame suddenly had a crack in it.

Apparently I was intent on out-idioting him. He showed me what had happened and asked if I would try a few rounds in my Beretta 96. I am not usually that stupid, but I said "Sure!" and loaded a few rounds in the magazine. I was surprised, but shouldn't have been, when it disassembled itself on the third round.

When we got back to his house we got the Beretta re-assembled and it has been fine ever since. He illogically insisted that the CZ-P09 was at fault, rather than the ammo. He sent it in under warranty and they wouldn't replace it. (I don't blame them.)

If you look at it, it cracked where some polymer had been removed to make room for metal rail inserts. It's easy to see that that's the weakest part of the frame. Luckily for me, my Beretta is a bit sturdier.
