CZ P-07 Appreciation Thread

Who else has one? Gotta admit, I think CZ has themselves a winner with the P-07 and P-09 polymer guns. I’ve got near 3,000 rounds through my 2014 P-07 so far and love it. I haven’t been this excited to go shoot in a while. Basically chose it over the P229. Decided to try my hand at the hammer fired guns and this one rose to the top. Excellent double action trigger (around a smooth 10 lbs.) and a great single action (I’m guessing at 4lbs). I’m still adjusting to the Double Action pull and resisting the urge to switch the gun to cocked-and-locked but this thing is the first polymer gun that I can honestly say is as accurate and easy to shoot in my hands as a 1911. It has that CCO feel to it for me. Gun tracks extremely well shot to shot and is very controllable. Just seems to lend itself to shooting well and shooting fast.

If anyone is considering getting one of these I would highly recommend.

I love my 09....it's the FDE one pictured. I have around 2000 or so rounds now without issue.

The SA/DA transition is a head game the striker guys like to try and convince you is bad. I can draw, aim and squeeze the trigger and hit where I want with ease. The first plate dies at least 80% of the time in the 17yd range.

I picked my 09 over the 75 I went to buy because of the feel of the poly grip. I still want a 75, but the FDE edition won me over for now.

Only coming up on 1000 rounds on my P-07 but so far it has supplanted my 1911/Glock 19/30S/23 as my EDC. And as someone who has historically hated DA/SA for carry... that's saying something.

Couldn't like it more. If I ever decide I need a full size 9mm (probably unlikely), the P-09 is on my short, SHORT, list.

I've got the P-01 and 75B but not really familiar with the P-07 and P-09. Is one just the full size and one the compact? Any other difference? It's probably gonna be on my handgun list eventually.

Love my P09, I have about 500 rounds through it and the only issues were due to me reloading some truncated bullets a little too long and it wouldn't go into battery about every five rounds. Once I got the COL right it's dead reliable. Now I just need to add the P07 for something in the mid size range. I did do one thing on my sights, I repainted the white dots with a much brighter white fingernail polish my daughter had and its a noticeable improvement.

Yes. Think Glock 19 (P07) and Glock 17 (P09). The P-01 is roughly the same size as the P-07 as well. I think the P-09 is actually larger than the G17 or 75B though. Seemed that way when I held one anyway.

I do the same thing man. Except I usually use an orange polish or green even.

You know, I think I need to try one of the new ones. I tried one back when it was first introduced as the "CZ 75 P-07 DUTY" and I did not like it at all. The trigger was terrible.

I hear the minor redesigns they made when they swapped it to just the CZ P-07 make a big difference.

For what its worth (triggers being subjective and all) I tried a new model and the older model side-by-side in the store when I was deciding which one I wanted (only Gander Mtn had them both and... their prices... yikes. Yeah, I ordered elsewhere).

The newer design has a nicer trigger, true, but IMO not by very much at all. I would not have been any unhappier with the older model in the trigger department. Better, rounder, edges. Front side serrations, better sights, absolutely, but the triggers were pretty much a wash in my eyes.

Got my P-07 out today for another 150 rounds of WWB NATO FMJ's, man this thing loves those and they shoot very, very, close to my carry ammo (Critical Duty +P) so they make for good practice rounds.

My only wish is if they (or Cajun Gun Works) would come out with an extended safety lever, the stock ones are just too small and I can't disengage it fluid enough for my satisfaction. Luckily enough, I don't mind carrying DA/SA, so its all good.

P-06

The P-07 is on my list too, had the SP-06 out at the range today, dumped 3 mags quick at about 25 feet, here is the target (orange center)

I've handled three or four P-07's each of the 2014 and older versions. While the newer version is a lot more refined (nicer sights, finish, and hammer, no sharp edges), I didn't notice a functional improvement in the trigger. But then the samples that I tried all had what I would classify as a very good trigger. I thought each (even the older versions) compared favorably to the SP2022 and P229. Maybe the older versions I handled were also "newer" older versions? Or maybe you just got unlucky with the one(s) you got your mits on?

Either way. You should check one out man. It's just the DA/SA Glock 19. Fantastic weapon. Reliable and accurate. And IMHO the nicest looking polymer gun on the market by a country mile.

I carry DA/SA too but even a slightly extended version of that lever would be nice for that job too. Maybe I'll shoot David an email and see if there are any plans or if he can be persuaded to make said plans...

Yeah, the one I tried definitely didn't compare to those. The DA pull was like tragging a snow sled over a gravel road.... with santa clause sitting in it. That is to say... very heavy and very gritty. I've heard they respond quite well to a little gun smithing though.

That's really all I recall. I do seem to recall some sharp edges that turned me off... on the decocker or safety or whatever it was, but I can't be sure, and my tastes have probably changed a bit since I tried that one. It was when they first came out because I was initially very interested. I think it was in 2009.

The DA is heavy. Around 10lbs before any quick CGW spring changes. Mine isn't gritty at all. But it does stack a little toward the end.

My P-07 was one of the very first.

Trigger was just fine to me, but I'd been shooting Col Cooper's "crunchentickers" for some time. Now I have the P-09.

This thing flat out rocks, especially after Dave at Cajun Gun Works went over it. This IS the bomb, as some kids used to say...
