CZ P-01s impossible to find local

Shooter's usually has a pretty good selection of CZ's as well as several Sphinx's at any given time. Didn't know you guys lived in or around Jacksonville as well?!

I'm in South Carolina for school (no gunsmithing schools in Florida) but I lived in Saint Augustine and I went in and around Jacksonville frequently. My family bought several guns from Shooter's and it was where I first found a CZ to hold that made me decide to get one (instead of the Makarov I was looking at). I worked at the Academy on Southside Blvd for a while and Shooter's was name dropped pretty frequently as a competitor by customers.

Meanwhile today, I picked up my P-01 from my local gun dealer. Going to shoot it later today but so far I really like the feel. The grip is the perfect size to fill the hand all the way without sticking down below. The rubber grips actually provide a very good texture. The trigger seems to be simplified and doesn't feel as good as my BD, but I've also broken the BD in with well over 1,000 rounds. Mine has one of the NSN's on it as well which is pretty cool.

Congratulations!

No take that puppy out for a run, and let us know how she ran and if it met your expectations.

I'm betting it exceeds them.

I haven't had time to do a full report, but I fired 200 rounds right out of the box (not even a factory degreasing) without a single hiccup. Ergonomics are great and recoil is incredibly smooth with very little sight disruption. Sights are acceptable but hinder paper shooting at 25 yards (the shortest my range has).

The trigger is acceptable in single action but has a notable amount of travel. The double action trigger is stiff and feels like it stacks from roughly 8 pounds to maybe 10 or 12. I find myself wondering if it has an Omega or substantially similar trigger as it seems closer to that than my 75 BD trigger

Weight improvements over the 75 are awesome and will make this a great carry gun. Both barrel and grip fit me and balance perfectly while being shorter than the full size 75 without giving up any control or ergonomics. It fills my hand completely without any pinky hanging over. I like the rubber grips way more than I thought I would.

I will likely be using a Cajun gun works trigger upgrade and some TFO sights but I am very happy with the gun

I feel your pain, I tried every shop in my area while looking for my SP01 and nobody nearby had it. Eventually made the drive up to Buds in Sevierville and Lo and behold they had a pile of them. Must've bought out all the distributors. Luckily for me Sevierville is only about a 30 minute drive.

Congrats on finding your P01, pics?

I went to shooters Jax yesterday. Bought a CZ 75D compact. I put it on layaway so I didn't get yelled at.

Gun collector

I own two CZ 75 SP01 9s, one is a tactical and they were extremely difficult to find. I called every local gun store prior and they all told me they couldn't get one. Up until that point with all the guns I have purchased I had never had problem finding a gun I wanted. I eventually gave in and found a store in Colorado through gunbroker that happened to get few in. I can tell you that they're worth every penny and some. Arguably the best value purchase I have found. Since I have only seen the Phantom at local Cabellas. If you can't find local, look online preferably through gun dealer.
