CZ For concealed carry

Are you wanting a compact because everyone else carries compacts? With a good holster and belt your CZ75 will do you just fine, I CC my CZ75 SP01 (a 43oz gun) daily on a crossbreed belt and a holster I made myself. I'm 5'7" 155lbs and wear a medium shirt, it prints just a little bit but not enough for untrained eyes to notice. And I don't find it uncomfortable in the least bit. You have the added benefit of having more rounds on hand in a package that is generally easier to to shoot accurately versus smaller guns.

+1 On this. I carry an 85B every day and as long as I'm wearing a decent belt and holster it is no problem. Like you, I'm about 5'7 and 155 and with an IWB holster and a size large T shirt, no one is the wiser.

How large a pistol someone carries is very dependent on the person. There are certainly those that feel comfortable carrying larger or heavier pistols and there are those that don't.

That is true, and I suppose style of dress varies as well. I'm not very fashion forward so I can get away with concealing a bigger gun.

OP if you do decide to go with a full size gun or close to it, for awhile you will always think that you're printing or the gun is becoming exposed. When I first got my CC permit last year I worried about it all the time. In all the cases, it was in my head. The gun was not exposed, and I wasn't printing.

In my area at least, I could probably print like a college textbook and nobody would notice. People just don't pay attention. I was at the grocery store yesterday and I let a guy know his holster was showing.

I guess the point of my first post in this thread was for the OP to consider all his options. A holster and a belt are a much smaller investment than a gun, holster, and belt. If the OP tries, and finds that he can satisfactorily carry his full size CZ75 then he has saved himself about $600 for ammo.

My rule of thumb to people who ask me what carry gun they should get is this: Get the largest gun that you can carry every day. Don't get a gun that is so uncomfortable to carry that you're tempted to leave it at home.

A full size CZ75 conceals very easily in a Milt Sparks Summer Special 2 IWB holster. It is very similar to a 1911 Colt Commander.

I have been carrying my CZ75B Compact in my Tucker & Byrd OWB holster and it is real comfortable and hides the gun very well.

I carry my CZ currently when hunting, target shooting etc in a Bladetech OWB holster. Works great for that and for competitions. However, it does weigh fairly heavy on the belt and carrying around the belt line does tend to produce a lot of seat. However, assuming a 2 month turn around time, I will be getting my CWP towards early November where I may be able to try it before buying a new gun. A quality belt and holster may make all the difference.

I am not a large guy - 5 foot 6, 140 pounds, 30 waist pants. I'm not sure I'm convinced I can keep a full size gun concealed in all weather. The extra barrel length does concern me in positions such as sitting. Guess I can try that before a new gun

At least for me, the belt and holster makes ALL the difference. I don't even notice the difference between carrying my M&P .40 FS and my CZ-85 because I have a very stiff belt and a good holster.

I can relate to your build. I used to be thinner, but I didn't have my CWP at the time so I don't know how it would have made a difference. IMO I think that being thinner is actually an advantage.

As for barrel length, at least in an IWB holster it isn't too much of a factor. At least for me, I don't even think about it. I'm sitting at the computer right now with my M&P FS and it isn't burdensome in any way.

Probably the most inconvenient thing about carrying full size is that when you are driving you tend to notice the pistol more. Best of luck with whatever you decide on.

dakota.potts, I don't know enough about CZs to advise you on the pistol side of the equation. That said, (1) what kind of CZ are you carrying for huting, range, etc.; and (2) what kind of belt are you using?

A quality belt makes a HUGE difference in carrying. If you're not using a proper gunbelt, might I suggest investing in that first? That CZ that "weighs heavy on the belt" that you currently own may not seem so heavy if you'll properly support it.

Not that I want to dissuade you from buying a new pistol . . .

The one I own and use now is a full size BD police model. My main concerns with that are loaded weight, barrel length, and grip length

I like my SP-01, but I don't think I'd be confident in carrying it concealed on a daily basis. That is just me and others clearly manage.

Anyway, is there not one of the compacts (P-01?) that is essentially a shorter SP-01, rail and all?

That's a big pistol for CC. It's not impossible to carry, but it's big. That said, it's not THAT much bigger than a 1911. (I need to learn more about CZ pistols, but I do have a frame of reference with 1911s). It looks like it's within 0.1" in height and width and about 6 oz heavier. (Someone correct me if my math is wrong.)

What's the story on your belt?

I don't yet have a decent gun belt or even a stiff leather one so that may make a difference.

I can definitely try carrying the full size model when I get my license which will likely be just getting into winter with more clothing. That might give me a better frame of reference.

I'm a big proponent of using a proper belt and holster. A proper gunbelt makes a WORLD of difference. I've carried using a basic Wal-Mart belt, and I've carried using a proper gunbelt. I'd say go ahead and get the belt now. The belt is going to make carrying more comfortable, regardless of whether you get a new pistol or not. And once you get a belt, you'll be better able to judge whether you really need a new pistol, or just a new belt.

If you're carrying at the range and while hunting, that means you have a holster, right? You may not be able to CC in public yet, but there's nothing stopping you from wearing it around the house to see how the weight is, is there?

For whatever it's worth, I've been using an Aker B21 for about 6 years. I've had a DeSantis Econobelt for about 4. Both are perfectly serviceable, without breaking the bank. (The Econobelt is techinically an "underbelt," but AFAIK, nobody's ever noticed that.)

You cannot go wrong with the PCR D or the Rami. I have both. NOTHING feels as good in the hand as the Rami with the 14 round mag, but I'm a little more accurate with the PCR D. I've had almost 40 handguns and the only one that comes close to these two CZ's is the Mod 2 .45.

That will make a huge difference

Well, I am placing an order today for a Desantis econobelt. My holster is a Bladetech OWB so I won't be able to get the experience of carrying it concealed, but I will be able to see if that makes an effect on the perceived weight and comfort of the firearm
