CZ 75b from 1996 for $400

I just bought a used one from J&G for $350, but with shipping and FFL it was $400 total. That's probably overpaying, but I specifically wanted a used gun to work on. Yeah, I could have gotten a new gun for close to exactly what I'm going to spend with refinishing, but then I wouldn't get to refinish it.

I am looking to buy a CZ-75b and came across a classified for one for $400. It has around 2000 rounds through it and still fires well. Comes with original and hogue grips and 3 magazines. Is $400 the correct price or is the person asking too much?

Picture of the gun is attached.

I looked at the photos once, and didn't think much of it, but in looking at it a second time, this gun may have some potential. It's a little rough, but the photo also highlights what I believe Walt identified as the owner's problem:

The polycoat is messed up pretty badly. (I wonder if one of the prior owners had a problem getting the slide stop out an didn't know about the little lines on the other side, near the rear, where slide and frame must be aligned.)

I admit I have used magazines to pop the slide stop out, although I try to make sure I use a rubber base plate or something to protect the finish, that may have happened here.

I have little doubt the gun spins like a top, CZs normally do.

As for price, I think he may be a little high. He does have a 3rd mag, which when new is right around $45 if it's factory, $30 if it's MecGar, and not worth a dime if it's ProMag (IMHO). The hogue grips are cheap, but for this gun probably about what you would want on them. Factory stocks are cheap plastic, no real value.

Assuming the rest of the gun looks like the picture, with significant finish wear, I would pass, just because there are plenty of CZ 75s out there at that price point in better condition. If that is the only real place where you have wear, the slide moves smoothly, and the internals look ok, then I would probably make a counter offer of $325, and feel ok about paying $350-$375.
