CZ .22lr Bolt Action

Hey guys,

I've been very interested in purchasing a .22lr or .22wmr bolt action for a bit of time, but can't decide which one to pick between all the different models. I really wanted the CZ 452 American, but my local gun shop can't get this gun from his supplier anymore, due to this model being (discountinued).

Which model should I go with now? I've been looking at the 452 FS, 452 Varmint, and also the 455 American. What is your thoughts for me to choose? This gun will be only used for target shooting at large distances. Which ever gun I choose, I'm going to be mounting a scope immediately, I don't even want iron sights on the gun to be honest with you guys, because that's what the Henry Golden Boy .22lr will be used for. Just iron sights only.

Does anyone know where I could pick up a brand new CZ 452 American, even though they discountinued these models this year?

Is it worth picking up a bolt action in .22wmr? Or is it just a waste of money? Because this would be my 3rd .22lr gun, and I would like something with a little more kick for my bolt action, but I don't want to leave the .22 caliber category. I don't want a .17hmr though it's just going to come down between the .22lr or .22wmr.

I Really Need my CZ Oweners to help me out here lol

Thanks guys,

Not sure what long distance means but a 452 Varmint rarely disappoints. Plan on a $15 do-it-urself trigger kit to go along and make sure you buy the right size scope rings.
I own one and love it.

I have a CZ 453 Varmint, with adjustable set/standard trigger, which I'm pleased with.

If you prefer a CZ 452 American .22cal look here. They're advertising them for $369.99. :)

I like the 452. Locally, I have seen more used 455's for sale lately than 452's. Get the 452's while you still can......

I absolutely love my CZ 452 American. I did the trigger job with the help of a guy from Rimfirecentral.com. If you post over there they will overload you with information.

I put a weaver scope and a harris bipod on it, and now it is the one gun guaranteed to come to the range with me every time. Now while I am very accurate up to 50 yards with cheap bulk ammo, I have to invest some money to reach farther out (100+ yards).

I ordered mine from my local Wal-Mart. Now if I had to choose I would get either the varmint or FS in 452. The thing would be visual preference between the stocks, and that is something that you have to decide.

Overall couldn't be happier with it. Hope this helps,
Niisan

"Here" is a good place to buy from. I have had them send me a few items over the years. They usually have good prices on used CZ items also. I have been eyeing the silhouette they have listed. Maybe Santa will go shopping for me early......

thanks everyone for all your comments.. i'm just going to wait until i find a CZ 452 American.. i personally don't like any of the other models.. how do i buy online? do they ship the gun to any local gun shop to me? not sure how this works... i tired signing up rimfirecentral, and they won't let me register on their forums.

I'm a big CZ fan, . . . I'm also a fan of the TOZ-78, which is basically a cheap 22lr that is quite accurate, although the finish is a bit cheap. Winchester puts a $50 premium on it and calls it the Wildcat. Of course, you could buy an Anschutz . . .

As for 22wmr--the ammo is about 2/3rds as much as cheap .223, so why not just go for a .223? Alternatively, if you like the trajectory of 22wmr, try out a 17hm2; ammo is about half the price. I have a CZ 452 American in 17hm2 with a after market trigger set to about 10 oz. Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun.

Did you review my 1st post?

On gunbroker, they have some CZ 452 American .22lr guns, but I keep seeing them in these names like "CZ 452 -2E American
And CZ 452 -2E ZKM American" what is the difference between the regular standard American, compared to those to models like the "-2E" and "-2E ZKM"

Thanks guys!

If you're in Texas, I have both a Style and a Silhouette I'm trying to sell. I used them for silhouette competition. :)

what does the "-2E" stand for? i see them on on the titles for some on the CZ 452 American models. are they different than the standard 452 American?

this is the gun, that i'm currently interested in.. is this the 40.2" length, 22.5"barrel? he doesn't list the full specs about the gun... thats the only reason why i don't put a bid into the gun. theres no description what so ever.

hey mate, thought id try and help you out with the 2E question.

my understanding is the CZ 452 -2E ZKM American is the full model number of the firearm. I have a 452 american. it was advertised as the 452 American but the action is stamped CZ 452 -2E ZKM American. I assume its the same in the states. (im an Aussie)

i think the ZKM is the designers initials but dont hold me to that.

hope that helps

Ive got a 452 Lux and I LOVE it - my rifle is also marked as a CZ 452 ZKM Lux, so yeah not sure what the ZKM stands for.

Thing shoots like a laser with powerpoints.

ZKM stands for the brand, and designers initials

i.e. ZKM 452 is Z=Zbrojovka K= Mr.Koucky designer, M=Mr. Malek designer

Not sure what the 2E is for though

Oh and my rifle has both:

CZ 452-2E ZKM

Which won the Benchrest rimfire comp today (got a Bronze for state records but first place for the range members there today)
