Cynthia McKinney?

http://www.drudgereport.com/flash7.htm

Federal prosecutors investigating the confrontation between Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia and a Capitol police officer have been talking privately with McKinney's office in hopes of resolving the case without the spectacle of an indictment and trial, the ATLANTA JOURNAL CONSTITUTION reports on Wednesday.

Prosecutors for several weeks have been carrying on confidential discussions with the DeKalb County Democrat in what they characterized as an effort to reach a plea agreement, even as they were presenting evidence in the March 29 incident to a grand jury, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The grand jury has not yet decided whether McKinney should be charged, an official familiar with the proceedings tells the paper, and no decision is expected this week. Prosecutors subpoenaed at least six witnesses to appear before the grand jury over the last two months.

Oh come off it, slap the cuffs on her and put her in the freaking dock!

Her apology was, at best, simply a justification of her need to feel repressed.

So REPRESS HER already!

Not only is she a member of Congress, she is a woman who does a disservice to women by jumping on the Women's Lib bandwagon at the first hint of someone disagreeing with her, and what is even worse, she is a Racist African American who delights in playing the Race Card, again a tool to silence political disagreement. She is a disgrace to the Congress, Women and African Americans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Muppets... don't forget the Muppets...

Let's turn the tables a bit . Let's say that the officer was having a bad day because an African-American(?) female had sideswiped his car and got away . He sees McKinney and decides to lay one upside her head . When does he (1) Get arrested? (2) Get indicted? (3) Stand trial? (4) Ever see the light of day again?

but that is not the issue here my friend. The issue is the apparant special treatment that McKinney is getting. If you want to start your own thread, go ahead, but don't try to get this one off focus, or obfuscate the discussion here. :)

If it wasn't for Bush's foreign policy McKinney would not have been suffering the level of frustration which caused her to snap. - pipoman

You gotta love it. The McKinney incident was Bush's fault.

I'm from GA and have talked to not one person i know that thinks she is anything but a racist. She should be coolin her heals at home after being discharged of her duties as a FEMALE BLACK CONGESSWOMAN. I will also have to dissagree with the statement that Mr. Kennedy was justly charged, any other common joe not affiliated with a political party would have at least gotten third degree murder BECAUSE he was driving drunk. He had the woman in HIS car he did not hit another car and kill her therefore he was responsible for her wellbeing while he proceeded to take her somewhere in his car while he was intoxicated.:barf:

What? what on earth are you talking about? Just pulling this out of the air?

What if the officer "...decides to lay one upside her head" because he's had a bad day?

Well, crap, what if McKinney had two loaded pistols, one in each hand and started screaming in Arabic? What if the officer was actually a plant by the KKK and decided that he now had the chance to really get back at the african-american population?

Are you kidding me?

I think y'all are missing the point of the "Let's turn the tables..." post. I think it was meant as a "What consequences would the officer be facing for doing something similar?"...

No, I did not miss the point at all. That might be a great topic for another informative and provacative thread, but it is NOT what this one is about. Now do you get the point?

Hunter Rose got the message . Would the officer still be free and walking around if the situation were reversed ? If HE hit her instead of her hitting him . This smacks of double standard .

This is becoming surreal, paratrooper. Why is it so impossible to just deal with the issue at hand? To start a thread on your question, just click the little button and go to it.

Good grief every time you turn around the woman is playing the race card, If the African american population would stop supporting the ACLU, NAACP, and the likes of Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the Ray Nagins of the world, who all try to turn every incident into a racial thing maybe just maybe the issue would lose a lot of the Poison that they insist on stirring up.

I would think that if people would stop looking at color it would scease to be a problem. It is an old issue and I know it ain't gone away, and guess what it ain't gonna if you don't let it.

Chicken and egg. Black leaders keep their followers stirred up in order to maintain their power base. Some blacks are in Congress only because they are black.

Real Gun, that is exactly why my rep (Florida Dist 3) is in office. Corinne Brown rides a gerrymandered district that winds through North East and Central Florida. Set up this way, it picks up liberal and black votes like one of those sticky lint rollers. The black part of Jacksonville, down through several counties, including mine, Alachua. Only the black neighborhoods. Its so bad, that the GOP does not even waste time and money fielding a candidate. This woman has extreme ethics problems (like flying friends to Africa to find their roots, and letting the Congressional travel budget pick up the tab) The only good thing about this woman is the few times she actually shows up to vote.
