Cynthia McKinney?

Bite your tongue!

She is "for the people of Georgia, ya know!"

As much as I hate her, on a personal level, I have to admire her values and her way of upholding...nay, demonstrating the Democrat's vision of "America as it should be".

Thank you, Cynthia...shine on!

Capitol Police Frustrated By Slow McKinney Case

Roll Call

As another week ended without a decision from the grand jury reviewing Rep. Cynthia McKinney's (D-Ga.) alleged assault on a U.S. Capitol Police officer, police labor committee officials expressed frustration on Friday with how long the process is taking and how the U.S. Attorney's office has handled the case.

More than a month and a half after the incident occurred, USCP Fraternal Order of Police Chairman Andy Maybo said Friday that "there is a large concern on behalf of the U.S. Capitol Police officers with how long" the investigation is taking. And while speculation continues to occur as to when a decision will be handed down by the grand jury, "Our frustration continues to grow the longer this plays out."

Jim Pasco, executive director of the National FOP, said that feeling is shared by law enforcement groups outside the Capitol Police who are closely watching the case.

"This is not the Manson murders, this is a simple assault case with numerous witnesses and the statement of a police officer," Pasco said. "The only thing that distinguishes this case from cases all over the country every single day of the year was that the alleged perpetrator was a Congresswoman. ... If as a result of this foot dragging and lack of decisiveness on the part of the U.S. attorney's office Ms. McKinney gets off, it's going to have a chilling effect on rank-and-file law enforcement in the District of Columbia."

Being swept under the rug like most democrat scandals
Hey, Ted Kennedy murdered a woman and didn't have to answer for it - why should McKinney have to answer for something as trivial as throwing a tantrum and assaulting a policeman? After all, she's a Democrat, too...:barf:

Err, don't tell me you actually expect to see some type of punishment handed out to the high profile (loud mouthed) government eliti..er..."servant", do you?

They clear the Rayburn because someone hears a pneumatic hammer and thinks they are gunshots...but this case of assault lingers on...I wonder why the officer didn't arrest her on the spot and cuff her...now THAT would have been big news.

Stew

I agree with the police on this one. The DA is dragging his feet. This is a pretty clear cut case of assualt on a police officer while in the performance of his duties.

I don't expect much in the news about this....afterall how much have you heard about Wm. Jefferson and his $90k frozen lasagna?

If it is a Republican it is on the news every day until hell is paid. Think DeLay, and Lott...Lott was just a matter of "poor judgment" at worst, in the news EVERY DAY for months. Often what is in the news is decided by what questions are asked at news conferences. In the case of DeLay there was few news conferences where 10 lefty "news" reporters didn't dominate the conference with one question after another about DeLay regardless the reason for the conference. When a Democrat is involved there may be one or two questions about a scandal glossed over and not pushed with the same fervor by the largely leftist press corps.

No Coverage

What the media chooses NOT to cover is often more important than what they DO cover! It's difficult to be an informed citizen when so many important stories are never reported. At least with the internet and cable we're better-off than previous generations.

Remember when over half the population got their news from Walter Cronkite.

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

As much as I am not a fan of the Evel Knievel of Chappaquiddick or his politics, that's a bit strong, don't you think?

Unless you want to suugest that he drove his car off the bridge intentionally with the intent and purpose to kill Mary Jo Kopechne, his offense was manslaughter at worst. He was drunk, he was negligent, he was more concerned with talking to his lawyers than with the police after the incident, and he got off with a light sentence because of his family name, but I've never seen evidence that there was intent to kill.

Let's not go overboard with putting horns on people.

These things take time

Time for political influence to be exerted. Time for the people to forget the insult that was the behavior of their elected representative. Time for something else to become more important....etc.

DeLay and Lott are of the same ilk as Mckinney. Lining thier pockets at the peoples expense. pretending to love America and what it stands for while shaking the trees for cash.

Mr. Kloos, I agree that Kennedy didn't murder anyone. He was, however, guilty of the crime of manslaughter as it was written, and accepted, at the time of the incident. He is responsible for the death of that young women. He was also guilty of the felony of DUI at the same time. He even used the fact that he was drunk in his defense. A normal tax-payer of that state would still be incarcerated, and penniless.:)

Nine Weeks Later...

McKinney Case: "Anything But Simple"

POSTED: 5:08 pm EDT June 1, 2006
UPDATED: 5:22 pm EDT June 1, 2006

ATLANTA -- For the ninth week in a row – no decision from the grand jury in the Cynthia McKinney case. The Washington, D.C. grand jury has recessed for the week – without an announcement about the DeKalb County congresswoman.

The long delay is creating new controversy in an already controversial case.

Congresswoman McKinney is accused of punching a capitol police officer – who she said failed to recognize her and physically stopped her near a metal detector. After nine weeks – legal analysts say a simple assault investigation has become “anything but simple”.

In a third story courtroom, of the Washington, D.C. Superior Courthouse, a grand jury holds Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney’s legal future in their hands. For nine straight weeks, the grand jury has recessed without deciding whether to indict Ms. McKinney, who’s accused of punching a police officer inside the Longworth House office building.

“It’s obviously frustrating for us. This sends out the message that it’s okay to hit a police officer – and it’s not, regardless of who you are,” says Andy Maybo with the Fraternal Order of Police.

Is Ms. McKinney concerned about the delay? Her office won’t comment – nor will the U.S. Attorney’s Office explain the holdup.

But outside legal analysts say the reason for the delay is clear.

Next...The Bush administration hates Southern Blacks...Bush is persecuting the South...Bush is punishing the South for their stance on Mexican Immigration...Bush forced Jefferson through his economic policy to need money so badly Jefferson had to take the bribe...If it wasn't for Bush's foreign policy McKinney would not have been suffering the level of frustration which caused her to snap.

This issue is just maddening.
