Custom carry revolvers...

I have a matched pair of 3" S&W mod 65's with narrow, polished triggers, action jobs, and shaved hammer spur. A S&W 940 with action job and dovetailed black front nightsight. A S&W 342 with action job and Crimson Trace LaserGrip. All guns will eventually be fitted with front night sights and a rear on the mod 65's.

Excellent job Kframe! You metioned in the post on the other board that you were considering dosumenting your next process step by step. Let me tell you that I would be very interested in seeing this! - JHP

Has anyone handled an example of Wilson Combat's new "Custom Carry Revolver" based on the S&W 66 Combat Magnum? It looks to be an interesting piece in the gun rags.

Kimber Pro CDPII .45ACP & Smith&Wesson 627PC V8-Comp .357 Magnum/.38 S&W Special +P "ARE THE BEST HAND GUNS I EVER HAD" and I recommend it to everyone!!

You hear a lot about customized carry semi-autos, so tell me about your custom carry revolvers for a change
Well, I have this 1911...:D

Soon I’ll be able to talk about my custom Redhawk and SP101.

Here's my SP101 after Gemini Customs package.
Trigger job, 9# spring, bead blast, ported, crowned, fitted Badger grips

Old thread.

The Taurus M605 I spoke of back in 2001 is gone.
In it's place is a new stock 605 and a Taurus M85SSUL with Eagle rosewood Secret Service grips.

The 605 went because I discovered, much to my dismay that porting on a magnum snub really was not all that beneficial!!!

Nice SP101 custom! I have something similar, done by Weigand before they stopped offering their "Tame the Beast" package. It is a S&W Model 29, 3" heavy barrel, unfluted cylinder. It was rendered DAO and the hammer spur was removed. I had a magna-trigger installed so I could use it as a nightstand gun. It has been hard-chromed by AP&W. Hogue grip and Meprolight tritium night sights round out the package.

Living in MA, back when I was younger, we could get our LTC's at 18 years old, but could not purchase handguns until we turned 21. So, from 19-21, I carried my father's stock S&W revolvers or 1911's.

But, when I turned 21, I bought my first handgun. It was a brand new 3" S&W M65, and I left it with Karl Sokol of Chestnut Mountain Sports before I even fired a shot with it. He rounded the trigger and took all the serrations off of it, bobbed the hammer, but left the SA notch in it, chamfered the chambers, did a smooth action job, but not too light, ran a dovetail mill through the front sight and added an orange inlay, and installed smooth, hard nylon grips. I shot that gun exclusively for many years. My carry load was Federal Classic 125gr JHP's.

But, when I joined the PD, I had to have all my off-duty/backup guns approved. The chief, at the time, would not allow any modified guns, so made the mistake of trading it away.

BTW, if anyone out there has a 3" customized M65 with the SN BPS1861, please contact me. I would like to get it back.
