critical defense vs tap

I never like the TAP loads because they used the XTP bullet. The XTP is a fine hunting bullet but not the best for self defense. Expansion has proven to be marginal and inconsistent it seems in just about every caliber. The bullet for Critical Defense is a better design.

Either will work just fine.
I love all who think the professionals who make the rounds don't know what bullet to use. Really? Maybe the manufactures should hire you guys to enlighten the way for them.

Really? I live in wyoming. Guess you never go to rocky mountain where they have 20+ different types of ammo......they have PALLETS of ammo. I have gold dots and Critical defense, SXT LEO. and many others.....all bought here in wyoming.

You need to get out more.

I get out plenty. I'm in Laramie and I can't find anything of the sorts here, Rawlins, Rock Springs, or Cheyenne. Usually I go down to Fort Collins or Loveland in north Colorado.

Where are you at?

LOL. +1. There is no shortage of experts on the internet.
Personally, I use Winchester Ranger "T" or Federal HST or Speer
Gold Dots.

Maybe they should hire a professional to tell them these things beforehand so they don't keep producing substandard products that sell entirely by advertising, and have no hope of being adopted by any law enforcement agency due to poor performance. That would be nice, and we wouldn't have to find these experts ourselves just to know if that box of defensive pistol ammo on the shelf is suitable for anything except little furry woodland creatures.

This guy would do:

Note that no TAP or CD load made it onto the "acceptable choices" list.

I read an article in one of my gun magazines about the Critical Defense development.

One of the engineers filled an XTP bullet with hardware store silicone, and the results were "promising". I might do that just to see how much better it expands.
