Creative car carry concealment

Anyone know of a way to hollow out the passengers seat or create another cavity in the drivers compartment for discrete car concealed carry?

What are you trying to conceal that requires you to destroy the interior of your car? Anything that large would probably difficult to operate inside a vehicle, too.

I keep my S&W 642 right above my head. I keep the pistol in a pistol bag with the end unzipped and it fits on top of my sunroof slide. I can get it out of there in seconds and my speedloaders fit up there nicely too. The slide fully closes and
no-one would know it is there. I have a black pistol bag so you cannot see it at all looking from the outside through the darkened sunroof. I keep the pistol in a pocket holster inside the pistol bag so I feel the need to carry it beyond the car I'm ready to go.

I have a pocket in my dash where a radio used to be (my car came with a radio, and a cd player in the dash, in separate compartments) I can fit a 642 sized revolver or a Kahr CW9 sized pistol in there and it's invisible to anyone outside the car. The passenger can still see it though.

Mmmmmm. Sun-baked 642. I hear it tastes like chicken.

Leadcounsel - the answer to your question mostly depends upon the car you drive. Offering advice on how to conceal a pistol in my old Subaru wouldn't do you any good, if you drive an '06 Accord.

What are you driving?

Forgot to mention I don't keep my 642 above the slide when I'm out on warm sunny days. I'm a night owl and the car is in the garage all day so 99% of the time getting too warm/hot isn't an issue.

Watch "The Big Sleep" with Bogart and Bacall....

Humphrey has the perfect concealed car carry... even has two handguns stashed.

I am just attending a conceal carry class for 100 dollars so I can carry it legally on my person. Its good in 33 states and I do not care to go to the other ones.

Why does it need to be concealed?? I hang my Paddle holster to the door pocket while driving and slide it under the seat when I get out.

If you can't take it into a courthouse to pay your taxes, where do you put it? Even if you slide the paddle holster under the seat, you're concealing it, especially if it's loaded in reach.

Concealed firearms in vehicles are found during traffic stops. If the possessor doesn't have a CCW, it's an issue. If it's a special hiding place not normal for storage, it could be construed as intent. The officer then keeps looking for the drugs and money that goes along with it.

Securing your weapon in a locked container or space is entirely different than concealing it to prevent discovery. Don't trip the red flags that signal criminal intent when it's not really the reason.

What I do is I remove my backup gun from my pocket and place on seat next to me between seat and console. Its not visible even to passangers. Repocket when exiting vehicle.

Bingo. Thats the easiest, and best advice I can imagine. Less liabilty to boot.

I have a lockbox in my car, teathered by a steel cable to my seat rails. The box can come out and is accessible to the driver seat (or the back seat, I suppose). I don't keep a gun in there, as its easier to just keep it on me, but it serves to secure it when I have to go without my carry gun for a stop off somewhere.

Here in Colorado that isn't a concern. Your vehicle is considered an extension of your home. So, it doesn't matter if, as long as it is in the vehicle, it is visible or not even without a CCW/L.

I have an older model bonnieville and i have covered the passanger seat so my wife will sit more comfortable when on trips.I unholster my gun,lay it on the passanger seat and cover it back up with her blanket leaving the grip exposed.

If i ever get stopped by the police and i have several times,i just take a finger and puch the gun further under the blanket and nobody will see a thing.Even in the daylight you can't see the gun because the blanket is thick.

Both of my vehicles have a center console. I just put the .45 in it. The .38 or .380 is still in my pocket.

concealed in vehicle

In MIchigan If you have a Concealed Pistol License the gun can be in the open in a vehicle.

With no license, it must be unloaded, encased with ammo separate, and in the trunk if vehicle has one(or not accessible to driver).

In my Grand Marquis, I place it muzzle down between the seats till muzzle hits floor, and cover with a cap.

Y'all should research your state vehicle and penal code laws. Even if you have a CCW permit, in some states, the creation of a "secret compartment" can be a standalone crime.

Illinois (of all places) ruled a 1999 law prohibiting "secret compartments" in cars to be unconstitutionally vague. Other states my have similar statutes on their books though.

Google "secret compartments in cars" and you'll get plenty of information, including how-to articles.
