coyote hunting

I may not have the experence that others do in this thread, however I have just shot my 50th coyote a week ago. I have shot them with 22lr to 416 Taylor. Many I shot with a 222 Rem and 223 Rem. I can tell you one thing for certain they are tougher than most give them credit for. I found both I shot with a 22lr died slowly and inhumanely. I also found that I would loose 1 in 7 with a 222 or 223. So my opinion based on my limited experence is unless required to do so with a 22, go with something heavier.

I have a Mossberg 835 Ulti-mag set up for coyotes. I am comfortable shooting them out to about 55-60 yards with my setup. I however hunt in the hardwoods and not out in the open fields and praires. Most of my shooting takes place inside of 40 yards and it is extremely deadly with the right load and choke setup. It may cost you some money in trial and error with testing chokes and loads, but once you find the one that works best out of your shotgun. You will be pleased with the results!

i wouldn't use a 22 you will lose alot of coyotes 22 mag at the least and close range only but they are tough and smart. I would recommend a 243 but 223 and 22-250 work pretty good too.
