Correct me if Im wrong......

They do specialize in revolvers which are mostly obsolete.

Seriously? Its like comparing a boat and a car. They both cover different requirements for a handgun. Just because the police and military don't use em doesn't make them inferior... Arming a police force or military is quite different the personal weapon purchases.

Well Said....to me guns have 4 main purposes
1 Collecting (revolvers typically win this cat.)
2. Hunting (again revolvers)
3. Defense (argument either way...higher capacity vs less chance of malfuntion)
4. Recreation (again...can go either way...but lets give this one to autos)

that is a final score of 2-1-1 in favor of revolvers.....hardly obsolete;)

Head over to the rifle forum and you want find that much man-love for Ruger (other than the 10-22). It's not that anyone particularly hates Ruger rifles (cept' maybe the mini, lot's of folks don't like those), we just happen to be a little more snobby ;).

Ruger was a game changer when they rolled out the LCP. I don't think many people were looking at Ruger's semi-auto handguns seriously until that pistol came out. Their revolvers, OTOH, rival just about any other on the planet with a touch of trigger work.

Bill Ruger was genius that made him a gajillionare...

he combined simplistic manufacturing techniques with marketing... and his marketing was simple too. Make a gun that the average person, read that as most americans, could afford.
