Conventional firearms depend on the case to seal off the breech end of the chamber/bore. So a combustible case in conventional arms would run the risk of escaping gases coming out the rear of the arm when fired.
Frankly, the idea of a revolver with consumable cartridge cases is frightening.
One would have to design a totally new arm and breech system.
