Concealing handgun in a book??

A similar approach is the "daytimer" concealment method. I was considering it until someone pointed out how easy it is to loose those things and how silly I would look constantly clutching it. Yes, you could lay it on your desk or in a drawer close to you but "on-the-person" carry is so much more secure. For those of us that sit at a desk a lot, ankle carry seems like a good option. For most other applications, on the hip.[/quote]

Souds and looks like a great idea @ $54
Just waiting for some one else to try it first!!!

Rusty, are you trying to start a flame war ?

Writing "Xtian" instead of CHRISTian, and suggesting that waving around your biblecover-ed gun shouting hallelulia would be some form of self defense ? What exactly are you implying ?

I suggest you tread lightly here.

Thanks for the ideas, I think I will try the router idea as I tried using a carpet knife last night and ruined a perfectly good book. It is not as easy as I imagined. The router ought to make short work of the task

Stubby,

It occurred to me last night that after you route out the pages, while its still in the clamp, you could apply a coat of rubber cement, or glue, or a similar product to the inside edge of the pages to hold them together. That would leave the outside looking real.

Sportsman's Guide had a wall clock some time back, that you could hide a handgun in.

RH,

Why should Rusty tread lightly? I thought it was funny. Are we to get PC here too?

So many pistols, so little money.

I've seen convicted criminals (prison inmates) hollow out many books, including
the Bible to conceal many types of contraband.
It would non be unusual
to find a small handgun concealed in one
of these, as well!!!

PS: In training LEO recruit's, it's often
the norm to conceal a small type of firearm
inside your underwear; in order to see if
the trainee can find it during a routine
"shakedown"!!!!

Tecolote, I do not want to divert this thread towards a religious discussion, which has no place here. I hate PC-ness, but suffice it to say that most Christians on TFL (and there are many, just read the signature lines) would consider Rusty's comments "over the line" - unneccessarily insulting towards Christians and the Christ we serve. Nuff on that.

Back to the topic, if y'all remember Tim Robbins(?) in Shawshank Redemption stored his hammer in a hollowed out bible. When the warden (played as a psycopathic bible-quoter, in typical Hollywood fashion) told him something like "True freedom is found here", during a room search, the prisoner agreed wholeheartedly. I thought that was a great scene.

Good heavens! A new idea? Anyone ever hear of "Colt on the Law"? True, it never made the best seller list, but I would like to be able to afford a copy, complete of course.

These things are easy to make if you use a hardback book and store it on a bookshelf. It gets more complicated if you want to store it on a desk.

1) Find a hardback book and measure the dimensions of the pages (not the cover).

2) Build a frame out of wood to the dimensions of the pages.

3) Cut the pages out of the book.

4) Nail the frame to the back cover of the book.

Ta Da!!

If you wanted to see pages on the edges, I think that copious amounts of epoxy and a hacksaw would work well. Then again, I think that most theives would be fooled if you drew black lines on the wood.

What I do is get a big old book and then glue
the pages together but not the front cover.
After the glue is set up. Put the pistol in place and then draw around it. A router or one of the new roto toools would do nicely.

I had the samw idea for putting a radio inside a book with the PTT button near the spine and the speaker under the from cover with holes drilled in it.
