Concealed Carry technique

thanks for all the replies i guess i better start saving some money. I'm leaning more towards inside the waistband carry now at least in the summer and i will keep examining different options.

Carrying concealed can get as involved or as minimalist as you want. In my case, I have several different handguns (specifically a Ruger LCP .380, a Colt Cobra .38 Special, a Smith&Wesson Model 640-1 .357 Magnum, a Smith&Wesson Model 6906 9mm and a SIG Carry .45 ACP) to choose from and several different modes of carry (including iwb holsters, owb holsters, an ankle holster, a belly band, a middle-of-back holster and pocket holsters) to pick from to accomodate various climate and social circumstance conditions which dictate the state of my attire. The conditions I address with the choice of weapon and carry mode include cold vs hot weather; relatively safe environs vs high crime neighborhoods, etc.

As others have noted, your choices are pretty much individual and subjective and will have to do with where you live, your financial state, your body build, your activites, etc. There is certainly a trial-and-error time period and most of us have a drawer full of dormant cowhide and Kydex. Though I'm retired now, I toted a concealed handgun for the better part of thirty years on the job and I'm still looking for the "perfect" set-up. I've come to realize that my search will end only after I've been hoisted into my coffin. Good luck in your quest...:)

You have received some good advice here. I hope I can contribute something as well.

My favorites so far have been:
--pocket holsters by DeSantis and Robert Mika
--IWB holsters by Milt Sparks and UBG for semis, Hoffner's and Side Guard Holsters for full sized revolvers
--OWB by Mitch Rosen and Galco

In my quest, I bought a number of holsters, and have read many times about people having a box of holsters in the closet that did not work for them. I have bought a number of holsters as well, and have never had a problem selling them either on eBay or an a CHL-oriented forum. I have also bought a few second-hand, and one of them turned out to be a keeper (Milt Sparks Watch Six for a 1911). What doesn't work for you may be perfect for someone else, so recoup some of the money you spend on those holsters. :)

Good luck and happy hunting.

My S&W Airweight 642 Hammerless disappears beautifully in my front pocket in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. When I carry IWB or OWB, it's usually 15 or 17 rounds of 9mm in a CZ.

I do not consider snubbies to be mouse guns. In fact, I almost exclusively carry an all steel S&W Chief's Special or a Colt Detective stoked with +P ammo as my CCW. I dont really consider a snubby suitable for pocket carry, especially when there is an exposed hammer. I will only carry them IWB in a holster.
