Concealed Carry Rotation?

For many years I owned one gun. Over the past few years, my collection has grown. I am an everyday carrier, and switch between three guns. I carry a Glock 19 on most days, but have a Taurus 709 Slim when clothing requires a less conspicuous piece, and a Glock 42 for pocket carry when a tucked-in shirt is required. My wife pokes fun at me for having different guns for different occasions, by comparing it to all of her accessories. I know many carriers who switch between two weapons, but is my wife correct that three is a bit odd? I plan to keep doing it regardless, but wanted to know if I am actually weird. Does anyone else switch between more than two EDC guns?

Not so weird. I carry two different guns, depending upon the occasion; My FN 1910 .380 is for everyday carry (about 99%), and for special occasions like weddings , funerals or formal dinners etc., I carry a Bauer .25.

Once in a GREAT while, if I foresee potential troubles, I will carry my CZ75 or a Browning Hi Power, but that is exceedingly rare.

Not unusual at all.
For me, Ruger LCP always in pants pocket. Then depending on weather, and location, possibly a Kahr CM9 IWB @ 4 o'clock, Springfield XD40 Subcompact same carry method, or in very cold weather a Ruger LCR in 38 Spcl +P might be found in my Winter coat pocket.

Nope, not weird, I have ten that I rotate in a OWB holster.
They are all S&W double action revolvers, just pull the trigger and they all go bang.

But like Cheapshooter, I always have a LCP in my hip pocket.

I actually carry three as well.

EDC is a CZ75 PCR. Sometimes I carry a Colt CCO 1911 when I need something thin. For the rare pocket carry, I have an S&W 642 revolver.

I never switch carry guns.

I do switch guns based on what type of competition I shoot. Lets take my Colt 1911 and my Beretta 92fs.

Depending on the stages, how much ammo I need or weather I might want a heavier bullet or more rounds.

As we know, the Colt safety is pushed down to engage targets. The Beretta's safety it pushed up.

I am constantly loosing time because, under pressure I try to push the safety down when I should be pushing up, or pushing up when I should be pushing down.

Now sometimes I shot competition with a revolver (M-64) I don't loose anytime figuring out which way the safety needs to be moved, or pulling the trigger forgetting to take the safety off.

Now that's the little bit of stress you get from competition, and it only cost me time.

There for my carry gun is never changed, it has no safety (S&W 642). Stress or no stress I always know all I have to do is pull the trigger.

Nor do I change the method or location of m carry revolver. Its in my pocket always.

Carry is new here. My practice is evolving. I normally switch between a j-frame and an XDS, with an LCP every once in a while, when I want to be extra discreet.

I don't think it's strange, at all. I currently have two that I carry - a P07 and a PT111 G2. Soon enough, there will be a BP9cc added to that list, as well, followed by a wheel gun of some variety. My only concern with having multiple carry guns is the prospect for doing the wrong thing out of habit, like forgetting to sweep the safety because your usually carry a gun that doesn't have one. That is why I make sure all of my carry guns are set up for point and shoot. The PT111 G2 has a safety, but I just leave it off - problem solved.

Having different guns for different situations is like having different clothes for different weather. You want the right tools for the job and the job here is protecting life and limb.

I have 4, but I feel like this is not the best practice. I carry my CCO most of the time and my CW380 most of the rest of the time. Still, in some clothes, my P40 is a better choice.

my 640 S&W is all but retired...

One gun all the time. Same gun for about 6 years. Same manufacturer and frame size before that for about two years. Different manufacturer, caliber, single stack for a little more than a year before that. Went through a few holster with each of them until I found one I liked and then carried the same holster whenever concealed carrying.

There are times I open carry for various reasons. Hunting, political activities, expect to be running or jumping or upside down, but otherwise some gun same holster. Add or subtract extra magazines or BUG in some situations.

I would have to train a whole lot more than I currently do to carry different guns in different holsters etc. I am sure there are people on this forum who train many times what I do.

It's not at all odd to have several carry guns. I have them in Small, Medium, and Large. Unsurprisingly, Medium (a G19) sees more carry time than the other two.

I rotated between a few guns for awhile (mostly similar in size), but now I carry my Sig P239. I can't really see the need to carry anything else unless I finally warm up to pocket carry... Not likely though as I can easily conceal it under a t-shirt.

I have four pocket pistols that are always "in the rotation".

Now with winter here, and being able to wear heavier clothing here in Phoenix without being thought insane......the Colt Officer's model or even the G19 might find its way around the beltline.

I have three, different sizes for different clothing and/or circumstances. They are all DAO without safeties: squeeze the trigger and they go bang.

Not one bit weird! In fact, "accessorizing" with guns is a man's (and a woman's) right! :D

I carry that which I have confidence in, which means I carry that with which I train. Further, for me, it makes sense to keep the platform the same- in my case I rotate between my G17 and G43 because the controls are the same. If I trained regularly with something else, I might carry that too, and likely will in the future. But for now, I carry something in the Glock family- bigger or smaller depending upon what I'm wearing mostly.

Because I live in the woods, I did used to carry a G20 in 10mm to account for the random bear. I never felt "under-gunned" carrying 10 mm but I did often feel like my carry hip was a few inches lower (mostly due to the wrong belt)! I'll probably add another 10mm to the rotation someday... For "wood's wear," the S&W 329PD is also calling! It walks lightly and "carries a big stick!"
