Concealed carry recommendations needed for J Frame.......

I've got an Uncle Mike's pocket holster and IWB for my 642. I've also got a High Noon Hidden Ally tuckable. I use the pocket holster rarely, but it is very nice to have when you want it. I don't ever, ever use the UM IWB. The cheap plastic clip doesn't hold. I tried using it for 3 weeks anywhere from a 1 o'clock to 6 o'clock position. I couldn't tell you how many times the whole thing rode up and out of my pants. The hidden ally is a non-molded leather IWB that I have found works great. I rarely use the tuckable option, but it's nice for church and going out to eat when my pants don't work with the pocket holster.

Iwb

I stick it in my belt over my right side. The rubber grip on mine (sp-101) keeps it from slipping out. The Smith J-frame might be a little more slippery though

Galco Ankle Glove. I swear by it. A S&W Model 340 in a Galco Ankle Glove is without a doubt the best way to carry a concealed handgun that I've found.

Bianchi Model 100

I carry my S&W Model 460 in a Bianchi model 100 "professional" IWB holster, I own 5 or 6 IWB holsters and NOTHING is more comfortable.

Uncle Mike's #3 Pocket Holster or a Gunmate #20 IWB with the clip removed and stuck in a pocket, depending on the shape of the pocket.

Hey:
This is a personal preferance. I use a Galco fletch on my hip and it covers the hammer so not to bite me with out a -T- shirt.. I have also used a MIKA.. Pocket model when dressed up and it works well but for everyday carry I would have to vote for the Galco fletch.. Hammer It.

Galco F.L.E.T.C.H.

Carry it right behind the hip and no one will ever see it, even in the summer with just a T-Shirt. That's how I carry my Taurus M85 2". I live in Florida, which generally leaves no room for "printing" error. the Galco rig has worked well for me thus far.

BTW, I also have a Galco ankle holster for the M85. I ONLY carry it when I'm driving or simply have to wear a tucked-in shirt. Ankle holsters, IMHO, are crap for carrying unless its a back up gun (with the exception of when you're seated most of the time). When you're standing up, how are you going to get your gun out without exposing yourself to even more danger? "Hold on before you stab me with that knife . . . i've got to kneel down and get something out of my boot . . ."

My advice is to get some sort of rig that will conceal on your waist: fastest gun presentation, and with a J frame, you have a lot of options even in hot weather.
