concealed Glock carry

I spent 32 years as a Police and the last ten of them I carried a Glock 17. For 7 of my last ten years I was a FAI. The Glcok is made to be carried with a round in the pipe. Period! The only way the gun will go "Boom" is for someone to pull the trigger. You are carrying the Glock for one purpose only, to save your keaster. If you are uncomfortable with a round in the chamber, maybe you should not be carrying!!

Many years ago I trained at least once a day with my pistol and each and every time I would start with the gun in it's place, pull it out, move the safety and fire... all in the fastest smoothest motion I could manage. I trained this way for about 15 years or so.

Then, one night, I was attacked by a big, bad, body builder; much younger, stronger, faster, and more used to fighting than I. He came at me suddenly from about 12 feet away and with an uplifted four foot long piece of seasoned oak...

I pulled out my pistol in one swith action, brought it to bear on him and escourted him out of my home, off my property and away. I called the police on the way out. He left in his car.

After he left I went to put my pistol away... it was still on safe and I'd had my finger on the trigger lightly for part of that time.

I have not used a safety since.

Getting killed because the safety was on gives me nightmares. It almost as worst as not having one in the chamber.

Thanks for all your insight!

My cocerns have been eliminated. As of today I installed a NY-1 trigger in my glock 36. I'm happy to say that the heavier trigger seems more forgiving to a ND or AD. Not that I'm planning one.

Anyone else who would prefer a heavier trigger just call glock and they will send one out to you at N/C. I installed it with help from glockmeister.com. The best thing I can compare the installation to is installing ram in a first generation iMac. Simple enough but you MUST know the tricks.

Get the lead out!

Explain to me, please, how you rack the slide of a pistol "one-handed

Don't take offence but the fact that you don't know how to do this means you need to get some professional training. I did not get this type of training until I became a police officer. I would recomend a school like thunder ranch, LFI or front sight. As for extra safety from carrying an unloaded gun. Its not a margin of safety its a margin of time that will put you out of the fight when you need your gun. IF your not comfortable carrying a loaded weapon don't. Heavy glock triggers like the NY1 make hitting your target harder to do understress and decrease your safety margin.
