Concealed carry folks....

I carry a Glock 27 in a galco ankle glove, took a little getting used to but now I hardly notice it.................LOUD

Constantine, did you forget your knife? :D

I carry one of these everywhere I go:

Kershaw speedsafe. The "snick" it makes when it opens is almost as good as the sound of a 12ga pump.

Surprised no one went into it a little further with tips on carrying big.

I've done it for years, full size 1911, Glock 22 in the summer in T-shirt and shorts and no one knows.

I'm about 230 and 6'1" and have a 50" chest over a 38" waste, so I have a pretty nice build to hide stuff. Not exactly a drink of water I suppose and it keeps sliding a little more south every year :(.

The key to packing big is getting a good holster so that it rides "high and tight". Put it this way on a Glock 22 I only want about 2-3" of the bbl actually down in my waistband.

Another great option is this, I have two and love them...they run big so if you are on a borderline go smaller. As I said am a 50" chest and I went with the large size. With the slim design of a 1911, I have no issues concealing it under a button up dress shirt even.

Obviously it can be used as a belly band too...and much better than most because it doesn't make you sweat. They are nice as they are double stitched...one stitched holster for large frame, one for small...get the liner too as you do sweat against the gun more in this type of carry.

Things are great, cheap, washable, but I always wear a white undershirt under it for more comfort.

At one time or another I've carried a 5" Gov't. Colt, Ruger GP-100 .357 6" and a Coonan Arms .357 semi-auto all in shoulder rigs. For summer and lighter wear - smaller gun.

The only time I feel more lost than when I leave home without my watch is when I leave home without my knife.

You have given me an idea though. I need to start carrying a flashlight. What kind is that in your pic?

I regularly conceal carry a full size 1911, 5" barrel. I'm about 6'4", which makes it a bit easier, but with a good belt+holster and proper attire, you can make it work. I carry OWB, to boot. If I had to be completely certain that I wouldn't be "made," e.g. carrying in a state where open carry is not permitted, and printing has been interpreted as "open carrying," then the 1911 wouldn't be my first choice, but I could get it done if I went IWB and proper attire.

My daily carry pistol is an HK45CT with threaded barrel. The overall length of it is almost 4". I carry it in a Raven Concealment Systems Phantom holster. It is big, but I find comfort in carrying it. I know it's accurate, if I do my part, and I know the Federal HST works in it. I have carried a weapon on my side for about 40 years, 38 with the federal government. I'm just used to having a large pistol there. I'll probably carry this way until I'm just too old to do so. :)

taurus 24/7 pro, a full size polymer framed double stack .45 in a $20 unkle mikes IWB over my right kidney. i'm 6' 160lbs. 7 days a week, even in shorts and a t shirt.

Maybe should have added a question on shoulder holster versus hip, which wouldn't surprise me if that were a legal issue.
Why would a shoulder holster be an issue?

There are three possibilities:

1. No carry allowed -- at all.

2. Carry is allowed but firearm must be concealed. I know of no state's law that dictates HOW it must be concealed, or what kind(s) of holsters are or are not allowed. "Concealed is concealed." If you can conceal a shoulder holster, you're okay. If you can't -- you're not.

3. Carry is allowed, open or concealed. Mode of carry obviously is not a concern.

Today it's one of my favorites: CZ 97B, that ain't no mouse gun. Carry it in a high ride OWB or a vertical shoulder holster. Also carry a full size stainless 1911 the same way. For variety, I often carry a S&W 610, 6 1/2" N frame in a Bianchi X15 vertical shoulder rig. Very comfortable and easy to conceal under a light jacket or my omni-present vest which also holds spare mag/speed-loader, cell phone, business card wallet, car keys, etc.. I'm 6'-0" and about 250. All of the above are very comfortable. I forget they are there.

I carry a Glock 20. And do my best to keep it concealed with an open overshirt in the summer, but it is not a huge concern as open carry is legal in TN with a HCL.

First I live in Maryland where getting a permit is a non-starter
At the moment, that statement is true. The 2nd Amendment Foundation is pursuing a case that has the potential to change that. Also, are you part of Maryland Shall Issue?

I lived in Baltimore briefly in the mid-1990's. I had one incident in which two men chased me into my apartment, then tried to beat the door down while I was on the phone with 911. By the time Baltimore County arrived 22 minutes later, the assailants had left. I have no idea what they wanted.

In any case, the responding officers told me it was a good thing the assailants hadn't broken through the door, because if I'd have shot them, I would have gone to prison. No castle doctrine there.

I was aware that Maryland had a structure for issuing permits, but my inquiries were stonewalled. Ironically, several years later, I spoke with a retired Ann Arundel detective who said, "heck, you should've called me. I coulda gotten you one." Lovely.

In response to your original question, most of the guns I carry are service-size pistols. Simply put, I don't shoot J-Frames and pocket .380's very well, and I'm not going to carry a weapon with which I'm not competent.

That said, I usually carry a medium-frame revolver. Automatics are a Sig P220 or a 1911. I don't do IWB. The right holster, and most importantly, right belt make a difference. So does presentation. I don't wear gun-related clothing, and I'm a fairly easy-going sort, so nobody really thinks to scrutinize me for bulges under the clothing.

So, Constantine, where does that new SIG 226E2 fit into your scheme of things? :)

I love this forum... :) you remember that? You've read posts and remember that. Group hug! Then shooting session? Lol I'm being a sap.

This SIG is beautiful!!!! I have yet to shoot it. Always open the safe and play with it. (no dads wrong I won't go blind playing with this one) lol making me feel better. Just got home from work now, think my girl and I are broken up after 2 years...weird...SIG is my rebound :P I'll probably shoot her this Thursday or Friday when I'm off! I'll post a range report.
