Compressed loads?

This has probably been said, but it's important. Compressing powder changes a lot. The flame starts at the base and burns forward, there is no nearly instantaneous ignition of the entire charge. The progressive powder burn becomes even more progressive. This is going to have an enormous effect on the burn and firing characteristics. It's not predictable whether that what effect that will have on exterior ballistics.

Sounds like people here are mostly alright with compressed loads. I'm not but if you stick to the listed load that is compressed, probably will work. Be interesting to see what kind of pressure's are developed with these loads. Just guessing I'd think close to max or otherwise I'm not sure the company would bother listing the powder. Someone mentioned the old idea of just scoup up a case full of powder and load it, yep really was a suggestion years ago. Haven't seen it in years. Bottom line is it's your gun the loads will be shot in and I assume you are the one firing it. Keeping to a listed load your probably gonna be safe beyond that I would not suggest anything. I know of a guy that recommend's loading bullet's into the lands to. He say's all you need to do is carry a cleaning rod and hammer in case a bullet get's stuck in there. Lot of people do load into the lands but I have never ever had a bullet from one of my loads stick in the lands. Come's to the final answer, it's your gun and your shot, do as your comfortable with.
