Comparision of SIG P232 vs. Walther PPK

Coronach,
It's embarrassing to admit but I learned about weak-wristed shooting when I bought my first 45. I thought I had an $1,800 piece of crap until I settled down and realized what I was doing.

You're right about the P232. The ergonomics and accuracy are very good. The trigger pull and sighting are also top notch. It's certainly better than a PPK (in my view).

One reason I purchased the Seecamp and CZ 83 is that I'm left-handed and have trouble getting to the safety on P232. Same thing for the Tomcat.

Anyway, if you're ever in the DC area, drop me a line. After all the excitement we've been having, I'd enjoy a cold one.

The PPK is a real boat anchor. A classic one, but a boat anchor none-the-less. Modern technology has produced guns of similar size that are MUCH lighter.

boat anchor?!

yeah, right, whatever...

several million boat anchors sold and still counting.

it's fashionable to rag the PPK.

go ahead.

PPK's will still have significant resale value fifty years from now because they are a classic design manufactured with a nod to elegance as well as function.

boat anchor...sheesh...

Its a boat anchor but still smaller and weigh less than most the other .380 guns folks are talking about here. They also take a trigger tune that will shock a person too. I have a bad adversion to guns that do not have a standard mag release button. There must be a reason they have been making them since 1929 and they still sell.

Seems like you guys are getting away from the size issue. The PPK is considerably smaller than the CZ, Bersa, Mak, etc...

SIG 232 easier to conceal than the PPK? In what way? The PPK is the smaller pistol.

Get a Glock 26, its easier to conceal than the Sig 230, more accurate and it shoots a more powerful round, and holds more rounds. It may cost you $50-100 dollars more.

I can tuck the G-26 in a jeans pocket, but because of the oblong shape of the sig 230sl it will not conceal in the same jeans pocket. The mag release on the heel of the grip is also a pain and the hammer digs into your side in an IWB. The 230Sl I owned was very horny and uncomfortable to carry. The Glock is completely dehorned, and less likely to snag on the draw.

By the way the G-26 is the only glock I own.:)

I have had considerable experience with the Walther PPK, PPK/s and Sig P230. The PPK/s was German and worked great. The Sig shot great too. I traded the German PPK/s to get a "real" PPK. It was an American stainless model. What a POS! Even after trips back to the factory it still would not function. A German PPK is a very nice gun, but I would avoid the domestic counterpart like the plague. The P230 was also very nice, but it is pretty BIG for a 380. If I were you, I would go with a larger caliber gun that is no more bulky than the Sig. Watch-Six
