Compact 9mm

Well put Walt .... the answer is a matter of opinion.
Agree with both thought's.
Glock vs Sig vs XDM vs M&P etc. is like Ford vs Dodge vs Chevy etc.
Everybody has their preference. Find the one that works best for you. ;)

flip a coin....you win with either. I've had 6 S'fields, including the XDm Compact 3.8 9mm (also had that in .45) and currently summer carry a Mod 2 .45 and I've had 4 CZ's including a steel Compact 75 in nickel finish, P-07 Duty and currently have a PCR D and Rami. Seriously, flip a coin cuz you can't go wrong with either. IMO, the CZ is slightly more accurate but excels in feel and looks. NOTHING touches a CZ in "feel." They just fit. Rarely have I heard anyone say that they didn't like how a CZ felt in their hand. The CZ DA trigger pull is not bad. It's about like the pull on an LCR, which isn't bad at all for a revolver, and the SA pull is just fine, IMO. Some folks get trigger jobs done to lighten the pulls, but I'm ok with both. Not having $ to spend on trigger jobs limits me, too.....:(
The XDm trigger breaks easier than a Glock, based on my experience. Take up and reset aren't bad, but a Glock trigger breaks harder after take up. If you have no Glock experience that won't mean anything to you.
The XDm will be lighter, capacity is similar, the CZ will probably cost you just a little more. One caveat.....CZ's are often hard to find, so, if I was in the market I would jump on the CZ, a PCR D or P-01 (rail) if I could find one. If you don't like it, you'll have ZERO problem selling it. And S'fields can be found in any gun store. Just my two cents........Let us know what you decide.
**grabagun.com has ready access to CZ's...my boss just bought a Rami there**

Hey, Green Egg-
I can't speak to CZ, sorry, but do have essentially everything else. If you don't wanna carry or okay with carrying "big" guns, the xdm compact would work well and is great gun, the Glock 19 too. If you plan on carrying and still want a Springfield, maybe consider their subcompact version. A little smaller but still has good capacity with reg and extended grip mag. I own it and it's 40sw brother. Fun range guns, but still bigger than I prefer to IWB carry...

My personal preference for edc, if ur interested, has to be smaller still. I prefer the kind of "micro" class of for that. The top four there, imo, would be lc9s pro, glock 43, shield, and Kahr cm/pm, in that order. I own those four but, IMHO, there isn't anything currently better, for me, than lc9s pro. It's the entire package and extremely good value and cheap price.

Big

I have been carrying a CZ PCR since 2000. Love it, as others have said, it is an excellent choice. The RAMI would also be a great choice, but it really isn't much smaller than the PCR.

i have multiple compact carry guns and think they all have their place depending on the circumstances (night on the town, or shorts and flipflops heading to walmart). Glocks are fine guns and i carry a g27 time to time, but the most comfortable carry gun i have (and thus the one that gets carried the most) is keltec...either pf9 or p11. All my carry guns have clipdraws, the pf9 is just small enough for pocket carry where the glock isnt, it also carries iwb with little to no footprint and its light enough not to pull your pants down. I know lots of people like to look down on the keltecs but i own 3 and they have always gone bang.

I have both of these guns. The CZ75 P-01 and the XDm 3.8 compact in 9mm.
Both great in their own right but if I had to choose it would be the CZ. To me it just feels better in your hand and points better.

The XDm 3.8 or what they advertized as 2 guns in 1 is great too because you have the 13 round or the extended 19 rounds options.

You can't go wrong with either one. Try both and choose the one you like best.

My two favorite compact 9mm's are the S&W M3913 and M6906. Been carrying one or the other almost daily for 20 years. Both handle well, are reliable, and accurate. Am I dating myself by admitting to liking these S&W DA/SA 9mm's? Are these no longer considered good guns to recommend for a CCW piece in the 21st Century? My first experiences with Glocks about 20 years ago were not positive, never been a fan of striker fired or plastic guns since then.

PA32Mark, there is nothing wrong with the 3rd Gen S&W's. They are great guns. I still have an old S&W 469, I still carry once in awhile.

I'm not much a fan of DA/SA. I like the same trigger for every shot. In that size I carry the XD Subcompact, mine is a 40, or the Sig P250 subcompact or a Glock 26.

I do apologize for starting this little side trip on the OP's thread. It just wears on my nerves when almost every post about almost any type of gun gets people posting stuff to the effectof "Get a Glock and thank me later." At a point it just gets silly. In this case there was at least some reason for a Glock suggestion, although to be respectful of people coming here for honest opinions from other experienced gun owners the suggestion to get a Glock should be followed by some semblance of a reason why it might be a good choice for the OP.

Again, I apologize to the OP. The tangent isn't very helpful either.:o

Pretty well actually. I got it new condition for $400 and it's a Gen 4. Just got it to the carry stage, need to shoot it some more really. Backup mag is a 17 mag.

It's thicker than I'm used to for this time of year, normally I carry the Shield in the summer. I will probably retire the Sig P250 SC this winter and carry the 26. The size Glock it is seems to carry better than the XD subcompact which is a bit bigger.

My first Glock, had I not walked into the price I would not have bought one, at least not there. My LE supplier is 2-1/2 hours south of me and the price I got was exactly the same. Buds, $145 more.

As far as the Glock/M+P/XD debate I never really saw a difference. All about the same to me. All I see is subjective opinions, not much more.

Thanks garryc, I found an interesting deal on one, and I'm kind of in a half hearted negotiation over it.
I don't really need it, but I kind of want it. Does that make sense? :o

Wife's shoes? Haha, good analogy. I think I'm more curious than anything else. If I get it, it'll be my first Glock.

Can't speak to the 9mm version, but son #2's XD-S in 45 ACP is one hellofa gun. That fiber optic front sight is truly visible if there is any light whatsoever and his accuracy with it has to be seen to be believed. 50+ yard hits with a full magazine on 6" round steel poppers are no problem. If you're into composite frame autos, that Springfield is a real contender. Rod

My son and I are very happy with our two Ruger LC9s.They are versatile and utterly reliable plus accurate too! :D

Springfield Armory Mod 2 in 9mm. Easy to carry, reliable, 13+1 or 16+1. Accurate and soft shooting. My favorite CCW of all time. No disrespect for CZ or Glock.
