Another consideration is these 3rd generation Colts are going up in price. I watch all Colt SAAs on GB, and six months ago you could commonly buy one for $1200 - $1300, now they are selling for $1800 - $1900, and some models, like a 1979 4 3/4 barrel, 44 Special I’m watching is up to $2300 and not done yet. I’m only talking about guns real people are actually bidding on, not some sellers crazy asking price.

The roll mark on my Colt Frontier. It says "SAA" right on the barrel.

The more I look at it, the more I marvel at the quality of the build.

Checking it out is fun. ALL the seams in the parts MATCH perfectly! Can't even feel the joints. That's weird.
The cylinder gap is ...tiny... You have to twist it exactly right to see light there. it's not TOO close. Closer than almost any other brands of single action I've looked at though.
Drag line on cylinder? None. Looking in while cocking the hammer shows the bolt ....waiting.... for the cylinder notch before popping exactly into it.
Finish? Perfect again.

I can see why Colt discontinued. It must take a lot of skilled labor to get fit this right.

AND.... it shoots good too. :)
