Yeah, I'm kind of agree with 3006. Your bil wants to trade his dads shooter for his gd's shooter...because? Are you worried you won't be invited for Sunday dinner at the bil's manor house? Do you like being around your Colt more than your bil? I think I would.

Beautiful gun. But, you NEED the $$'s. List it on Gunbroker.com, or another well respected online auction. Set the reserve at what you need ($350). Tell your brother-in-law, IN ADVANCE, that you are listing the firearm. Let him bid up to HIS sentimental value. AND, NEVER SELL A USED CAR TO A FRIEND OR RELATIVE!
 
Pictures in this auction of an newer Colt Shooting Master lead me to believe it is entirely factory with the possible exception of the hammer and grip modifications. Oh,one more thing.... the cylinder release on mine is checkered, the one in the auction is NOT.
Checkering on the front strap, back strap, trigger etc all appear to be of the same origin.
