Colt Mustang vs G42 vs LCP

I can't recommend any of your choices - I have a stainless .380 Gov't from many years ago but they're crazy expensive now for what you get. I think the Glock 42 is a mistake waiting for Glock to either discontinue it or issue a major engineering change. Truth in advertising - I don't own a Glock 42 but I am on Glock Talk every day and it's full of problems with the 42. I do have a SIG P938 and I'm going to have to add my recommendation to other's here for the SIG P-238.

I like the hammer-down and on-safe option. Unless a person is in a high-risk and dangerous job or living area - I think the SIG offers the best compromise for small size, reliability and safety. Just my .02 ...

While cute, neat little guns they are large for the caliber by todays standards.

I think the trend right now is actually for bigger .380s: Glock 42, LC380, the upcoming 1911-380 from Browning, etc...

If considering the Glock 42, I'd disregard the above statement and go over to Glocktalk and do a little reading for yourself. Having done that myself, my impression is a bit different. Yes, the G42 had some bugs initially. Most seem to have been worked out, and the majority are getting good service from the G42. Most common issue is the slide locking back prematurely. Most G42' seem to feed, extract, and eject very reliably. The slide locking back seems to be the result of the G42 being a bit finicky with certain ammo. Glock has already largely remedied this issue, but is does continue to some degree in some pistols. My G42 locked open on Winchester PDX1, but was 100% with Blazer fmj and Federal Hydra Shoks hollowpoints.
