Colt M-4

I thought it was because the masses of the country would rather buy things that are made in a third world country and the government of has been rewarding the people that are selling out the blue collar work to foreign sources.

I see, you don't shop at Wal-Mart, and what makes you think that all the Colt parts were made in the US?

Have you looked at the price of a Colt 6920 lately? The cheapest I can find is around $950. So when I said,
If it's in good condition, it's an excellent price for one. It is a Colt.
I meant that for a good condition used Colt, that is an excellent price.

I did not go tell him to go buy a M&P 15 Sport because it's new and cheaper. (And I happen to own and love mine). I just answered his question.

Jim - For you to go into the state of the country because the price of a Colt, well that's your problem. When you go overseas and realize how much more we have here, then maybe you will not complain so much.

In 2006 an Army solicitation for competitive procurement of 5.56mm carbine designs was withdrawn, once sole-source incumbent Colt dropped its prices.

From Defense Industry Daily.

As soon as the last of the original contract is delivered Colt may be out of the picture. You should see the prices of AR's drop again in the next 12 months.

Give me a break!!

Let me see if I can follow the logic of this. A brand new M&P (and others) can be bought for around $650.00 NIB, and because it is a used Colt, it is worth $700.00. No wonder the US is in financial trouble.

It will really depend on the condition of the rifle, howmuch it has been used, condition of finish, age of parts, number of mags that come with it, etc...

The market is flooded with used AR's, I wouldn't offer more than $450.00 for it. Your cousin should not expect to get back what he paid for it after using it. Will it hold it's value, most don't.

Jim

Colt, deservedly or not, is the gold standard for AR's. Colt was always, and well continue to have, higher resale values than other roll marks. You pay to dance with the pony.

$700 for a decent condition 6920 Colt M4gery is a bargain. It would sell for $800 in an instant on any of the forums that cater to AR's.

I agree with the posts that Colts are the standard for ARs. Just like Glocks are the standard for striker fired handguns. Some are better, some are worse, some have different features, ect.... but ARs are generally compared to Colts; just the way it works.

I wouldn't ever buy a Colt AR but I use one at work and it's a great AR. But, I'd rather build one to my specs and save some money to boot.

Back to the OPs question---if it's in good condition and the barrel's not shot out, $700 is a good price.

ya im starting to save for it. i will have $700 but ima try to get him down on his price if i can. an if he doesn't i have to use it for appliances when the an the lady get a apartment this year.
