Colt M-4

Sounds high for used. But almost new condition it might be close.

Offer 550.

That's what I'd do but my estimate is most likely wrong.

Pardon me for saying, but doesn't the Colt M4 have that little switch on the left side of the lower receiver that reads "safe", "semi" and "burst"? You sure you're buying an M4?

naw it doesn't have the burst. thats what they are called around here. M-4 or AR-15. my cousin has it an he said that is what he paid for it an i was going to give his money back to him for it.

I can't tell how its gonna hold its value. Rifles do better than most items

It will be a better value than the vcr I paid 700 FOR in the early 80s but its not that much money when you figurw the recreational value and enjoyment.

What is the model number? The Colt 6920 is the civilian version of the M4 and runs about $950 new.

Im no expert but 700 doesn't sound bad, although I would try to get it down to 6-650 anyway. If it has the carrying handle I would definitely try and get it down a bit more.

Its pretty common for people to call an AR style rifle a M-4 these days. Blame video games or whatever i guess, but today's generation considers that rifle, in any configuration, an M-4.

Kinda like AK-47. Correct me if im wrong, but arnt 99.9% of "ak-47's" out there actually AKM's? and AK-74's are often called AK-47's in 5.45.

To the actual point, sound like a good price to me. Depends on the condition, IMO.

Maybe...but I have this irritating tendency to call things by the name that applies to them. I feel it allows language to be a tool that enables communication instead of hinders it ;)

It is a Colt

Give me a break!!

Let me see if I can follow the logic of this. A brand new M&P (and others) can be bought for around $650.00 NIB, and because it is a used Colt, it is worth $700.00. No wonder the US is in financial trouble.

It will really depend on the condition of the rifle, howmuch it has been used, condition of finish, age of parts, number of mags that come with it, etc...

The market is flooded with used AR's, I wouldn't offer more than $450.00 for it. Your cousin should not expect to get back what he paid for it after using it. Will it hold it's value, most don't.

All AR's are not remotely equal... If you ever find a Colt for $450, I'll take a dozen of them.

The Army buys them for less than that as well as a ton of parts to fix them. Just like cars, the parts cost more than a complete one.

I thought it was because the masses of the country would rather buy things that are made in a third world country and the government of has been rewarding the people that are selling out the blue collar work to foreign sources.

Silly me. It's all because there are people that will pay $700 for a Colt rifle.

But I digress, this isn't a political discussion board.
